Floating LNG Terminal Finland

Gasgrid Finland Oy implemented the LNG floating terminal project to secure the supply of gas to industry, energy production and households as well as to safeguard Finland’s security of supply from winter 2023 onwards. The lease of the terminal vessel enabled Finland to break out of its dependence on Russian pipeline gas.

The agreement for a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) between Gasgrid Finland Oy and Excelerate Energy, Inc. was signed on 20th May 2022. The decision was made to place the FSRU in the port of Inkoo in Southern Finland. Construction work for the pier and mooring structures as well as the construction of a 2.2-km gas pipeline began in August 2022. FSRU vessel Exemplar arrived in Inkoo 28th December 2022. The FSRU Exemplar will ensure Finland’s security of supply while also serving the needs of the Baltic Sea region through the Balticconnector pipeline.

Floating LNG Terminal Finland Oy, 100% subsidiary of Gasgrid Finland Oy is responsible for the terminal operations and the FSRU vessel.
