Future+ Member Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: 10 October 2025
Welcome! We’re glad you’ve decided to join our membership. These terms explain the rules for being a member.
Please read them carefully, along with our General Site Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Notice. Please read them carefully. Different terms and conditions apply depending on whether you are in the United States or the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.
For members in the United States: PLEASE BE READ OUR GENERAL TERMS CAREFULLY. THEY AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND INCLUDE WAIVERS OF RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY. THEY ALSO REQUIRE DISPUTES BETWEEN YOU AND US TO BE RESOLVED THROUGH BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION AND TO WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL, CLASS OR COLLECTIVE ACTIONS OR PROCEEDINGS, AND ANY OTHER COURT PROCEEDING OF ANY KIND, SUBJECT TO LIMITED EXCEPTIONS. UNLESS YOU OPT OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OPT-OUT PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THE GENERAL TERMS, YOU WILL BE BOUND BY THOSE TERMS.
1. These terms.
These Membership Terms and Conditions (which we refer to here simply as “Membership Terms“) are extra terms that apply specifically to your membership. They work together with our main General Site Terms and Conditions (which we refer to here as our “General Terms“).
If there is any conflict between these Membership Terms and our General Terms, these Membership Terms will be the ones that apply to the issue concerning your membership. Otherwise, the General Terms will apply.
By signing up for a membership, you agree to these Membership Terms and our General Terms. If you don’t agree, you should not sign up.
Depending on how you interact with us, additional terms and conditions may apply. This may apply to certain features of our membership offering. We will make those terms available to you before you use that feature.
2. About the membership.
Our membership is a programme that gives you access to certain features on our websites that may not be available to other visitors.
We may offer different tiers of membership, each with different features. What is included in your membership tier will be explained to you at the point you sign up. Different tiers of membership may have different terms and conditions either in addition to or instead of these Membership Terms. For example, if your membership includes a subscription, our subscription terms will apply to that subscription.
We may make some changes to this from time to time. Generally those changes will be minor. If we introduce any major changes, for example if we want to start charging for something that we have previously been provided for free, we will let you know. We explain what might happen in those circumstances in Section 7 below.
3. Joining us.
To become a member, you need to sign up and create an account. The rules about creating and looking after your account (which we call a “user profile” in our General Terms) are covered in our General Terms. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for all activity on your account.
Membership is intended for users in the United Kingdom and the United States. If you are not in the UK or the US, the features of our membership may not be suitable for you and may not comply with the laws of your country. Some features or content may not be available depending on your location, even for members in the UK and US.
4. Membership features.
As a member, you may get access to a range of special features. These could include things such as:
- Exclusive articles, videos, or other content.
- Quizzes, puzzles, polls, and games.
- Community features, such as special comment sections or forums.
- Vouchers, discounts, rewards, competitions, or exclusive deals from us or our partners.
This is not a complete list, and the features we offer are not guaranteed. We want to keep our membership exciting and relevant, so we may change, withdraw, or add new features at any time, without notice.
5. Community features.
The following terms apply to any community features we may offer in which you can interact with other users, such as comment sections or forums:
- Our safety measures: We take sensible steps to protect our users from illegal content. We have a special duty to protect children, and we take extra steps to prevent them from seeing the most harmful types of content, such as pornography or material that encourages self-harm or eating disorders. We also work to protect children from other harmful content, like material that shows serious violence or bullying. We may impose age limits on some or all of our membership features.
- Reporting content: You can report content you believe is illegal or breaks our rules using the reporting tools on our sites.
6. Your membership across our network.
Your membership is designed to work across a network of our websites and publications (which, in these terms, we call our “Network“). This means that when you sign up on one of our sites, you may be able to access members-only areas and features on other sites in our Network using the same account.
We do not guarantee that every publication in our Network will be compatible with your membership, and our Network of publications and websites may change from time to time as we add new brands or retire old ones.
When you use community features (such as posting comments), you understand that your contributions may be seen and used not just on the site where you posted them, but across other sites in our Network. The licence you grant us in our General Terms to use the content you create applies across our entire Network.
7. Changes to the membership and these terms.
We may need to change these Membership Terms from time to time. This could be for legal reasons, to reflect changes in technology, or because of changes to our business. We will post the updated terms on this page, and the changes will apply from the date they are posted. You should check this page regularly for updates.
Major changes: We may need to make changes that are more significant. For example, we may decide to introduce a subscription fee for some or all of the membership features that we had previously offered for free. If we do, this would be a major change and we would not charge you unless you agree to it. If we decide to introduce a fee for any part of our membership, we will give you plenty of advance notice by email. If we make any major changes of that nature, we will explain what the change includes, and when the change will happen. If you do not want to accept the change, you can end your membership.
8. Ending your membership.
You are free to end your membership at any time. You can do this through your account settings page in the membership area of our website.
Once you end your membership, you will lose access to all members-only features.
9. Our right to end or suspend your membership.
We may end or suspend your membership immediately and without notice if we believe you have seriously breached these Membership Terms or our General Terms (for example, by breaking the rules for posting comments or interacting with other users).
We also reserve the right to end the entire membership programme. If we do this, we will try to give you reasonable notice.
10. Other important legal information.
Our General Terms contain other important legal information that applies to your membership, including sections on:
- The rules for content you upload or post (“Your Content” or “User-Generated Content”).
- Our intellectual property rights (“Our Content”).
- Our responsibility for any loss or damage.
- The ground rules for using our services.
Governing Law and Disputes: The law that governs these terms and how any disputes will be handled depends on where you are located.
- For users in the United States: Our US Site Terms of Service apply. This means any dispute related to your membership will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, and you waive your right to a class action, as explained in the “Resolving Disputes; Agreement to Arbitrate; Class Action and Jury Waiver” section of those terms.
- For users in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world: Our UK Site Terms of Service apply. This means these terms are governed by English law, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, as explained in the “Laws that will apply to any disputes” section of those terms.
