Kamila Valieva is set to resume her career at Tatiana Navka’s academy with Svetlana Sokolovskaya likely serving as her coach. Valieva’s return to training follows her four-year suspension for a doping violation, with competition eligibility reinstated in December 2024. Here’s a translation.

Kamila Valieva, who was suspended for four years due to a doping violation, is preparing to resume her skating career at Tatiana Navka’s academy. According to sources quoted by Sport-Express, Valieva is expected to rejoin training shortly after October 25, the date she is permitted to return to organized practice. Her coach at the academy will likely be Svetlana Sokolovskaya, who oversees the single skaters’ division.

In January 2024, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) imposed a four-year ban on Valieva after her sample tested positive for trimetazidine, a prohibited substance. The ban allows her to return to competition in December 2024.

Navka, an Olympic champion in ice dance, confirmed the news in a statement:

“Kamila will join Svetlana Sokolovskaya’s group. Of course, this is fantastic news for our academy and skating center. We are delighted! We will provide all the necessary support and guidance to help Kamila succeed.

As for her chances to make a comeback? I’m confident Kamila can achieve it. The most important thing is having the desire,” Navka said.

Kamila showed the skating world that you can do it all. I just hope she gets the same quality of choreography she got with Eteri

Ok, so people “don’t leave Tutberidze”. Except maybe Lipnitskaya, Medvedeva, Trusova, Kostornaya, Zhilina etc… While Eteri is without doubt a top coach, reasons for leaving her do exist. Even if it costs you the carrier, which it often does, but then… is she really interested in taking an 18+ back? We all know what that age means, under her guidance. She needs to focus on producing new champions.

I am very happy and for Kamila valieva and proud . Wish Kamila the very best of luck. She doesn’t need it she is amazing, excellent figure skating queen of the ice

She was penalized for doping for four years. I can’t imagine why she would go back to the same team. Maybe not a good association at this point.

  5. Wow! I wasn’t expecting that move, but best of luck of to Kamila!! I hope she finds much more success!!
