Since YouTube works fine on other browsers. This issue could be related to Opera’s built-in ad blocker or a recent conflict with extensions such as DuckDuckGo.
Try disabling all extensions temporarily, clearing your browser cache, and updating movie box Opera to the latest version.

Typing "w [search query]" (without quotation marks) in the URL bar and hitting return searches Wikipedia for whatever "[search query]" is. For some reason, it uses Spanish Wikipedia to do so, and I haven't been able to change this setting.

My OS language is British English. My computer's region is set to the United Kingdom. My keyboard setup is British English. I am currently in Germany. Why is Opera using Spanish Wikipedia? (This behaviour is not specific to the time I have been in Germany.)

Technical info:

macOS version: 26.0
Opera version: 122.0.5643.92 (arm64), but the problem has been present since previous versions

Recent EOL changes in Linux Kubuntu24.10 forced me to downgrade to 24.04.03 (LTS) I was unable to move forward to kubuntu25.10 because intrafms was not compatible with host. The linux ubuntu "distro-upgrade" flag forced to reinstall Opera desktop, but to my opera-wont-start-kubuntu24-04-lts-20251027_114535.png surprise the opera GUI would not launch. Using the cmdlet I see error message "User profile is locked by a session on another computer to prevent corruption" I was befuddled about how to unlock it since no instruction were printed for removing the lock. This is how I unlocked my profile.
Logged into old system and removed attached snaps.

sudo snap remove opera

Logged in with Brave_browser to my opera account

https://auth.opera,com/accounts/edit-profile/sessions (cr)

scrolled down to connected sessions, and remove all sessions. maybe mobile sessions were not interfering but drop all sessions with my user name.
Restart Kubuntu24.04.3 (LTS) and launch opera-desktop
opera launches 3-sessions. #Is that normal?
Import bookmarks because sync has a problem connecting now.

Any advice someone can give on a system upgrade/downgrade while using opera? yes I have cleared cache.

The bookmark folder is a great feature in the browser, that can quickly open a lot of related tabs custom-grouped by the user to access them all quickly with the push of a button, and equip him or herself to handle matters quickly.
As a user with a lot of tabs open at a time (usually in islands), I have become frustrated with the fact that it can clutter my tabs section very quickly with this very same push of a button, especially if I need to open a separate tab island for material from there. So what could be the fix for this and how could it be implemented?
I believe it would be great to have an option to open these bookmark folders in a new tab island. This option could be compound enabled in the browser settings, or folder by folder in the bookmark settings. Although the former would be easier to implement, the latter one would offer more advanced options. I personally would be happy with either. This is currently possible with custom scripts or extensions, but not everybody is equipped or educated to utilize them. This would serve very well for users who want to open their closed tabs reserved for work, hobbies, or play, with the click of a button as always, but in a collapsible tab island. No selecting them and putting them in an island manually, no external scripts, no extensions, no hassle. Just built-in settings.

Yeah, that’s a known thing, Opera uses the same base as Chrome but doesn’t have proper Widevine L1 support, so even if you enable hardware secure decryption, it won’t actually work for Netflix 4K. Best bet is to just use Chrome or Edge for that.
