I wonder if any of the 4 would have been interested to give it her all (both Mel's possibly not as their solo efforts already kicked off) to promote the hell out of the Forever album.

Does anyone know what situation SG were in after Spice? Were they signed for a 3 album deal from the beginning? Yes google is your friend but I prefer the insiders here :)

They signed a 5 album deal with Virgin in 1995 before Spice was released, i think the greatest hits album released in 2007 counted as a 4th album dunno if the anniversaries albums they released counted as a 5th album

i find it weird though a record label would sign a band for 5 albums before they even released anything. what if the first single and album were complete flops?

They probably still could have dropped them if they'd flopped. I could be wrong, but I don't think contracts are binding on the side of the label itself. I know Kate Nash for example had a 3 album deal but was still dropped after her second album.

Was the 5 album deal fact or just a rumour? Seems odd to me that the label wouldn't have wanted to squeeze the group for every single penny, and demand that they see out the contract and give them two further albums. I don't know how it all works, but surely they wouldn't have just been like "okay lol bye" when the girls said they wanted to call it a day?

I have just done a google and it does say they did sign a 5 album deal in 1995 and thís spice girls IG says so too

Although i have always found it a bit odd a record label would sign a new band or artist for 5 albums before they even release a single song but maybe like you said the label probably still has the power to drop the artist at any point.

Awww again how I wish we had two more like girls aloud with their 5 albums ... It just made sense 2006/2008 would've been perfect times for the five piece and got more big bops out there to perform

Not strictly Forever related but Victoria released a clip of her singing Viva Forever with Cruz strumming guitar.

Not often she gets involved in Spice Girls nostalgia. I still think she'd turn up for Glastonbury if they were offered the Legends Slot sometime though.

I feel like if Spice Girls ever did Glastobury it would be on the Pyramid Stage as a headliner rather than Legends slot lol

The legends slot is on the pyramid stage and often attracts the biggest crowd. I dont think they are cool enough in Glastonburys eyes to have the nighttime headline slots.

Also Legends slot is often bigger than headliners ...unless it's Elton John or Beyonce ....but look at Legends slot for Rod this year that was insane so yeah Spice Girls in the afternoon early evening on stage would be insanely iconic

The Sunday headliners spot can be quieter because a lot of people head home on Sunday night to miss the traffic. The Prodigy on the Other Stage drew a big crowd and over shadowed Olivia Rodrigo this year too.

I still stand by my opinion that "Holler" is among the girl group's best songs.

It's a good song I agree, it didn't need Let Love Lead The Way as a double A side though, but as we have discussed in this thread they seemed to be rushing to get Forever over with to return to their solo work.

yeh. if you watch the very few interviews they did for Forever, its obvious they couldnt be bothered being there. I remember watching oe where they were asked what their favourite song off the album and they couldnt even remember the name of the songs

What didnt make sense as well was last night I actually watched their Christmas In Spiceworld tour at Earls Court and it was December 1999, and they performed Holler, Right Back At Ya and W.O.M.A.N which was going to be on the album but for whatever reason wasnt. But Forever wasnt released for another 11 months later in November 2000. Was the album originally planned to be released earlier but was pushed back because of solo careers?

Spice girls were sounding outdated by the 2000s.

I was never a big fan of W.O.M.A.N. I have heard it and they performed it on the Christmas In Spiceworld tour in 1999 and its alright but dont love it. i dont think it wouldve fit into the Forever album and would've stuck out like a sore thumb as its very poppy. I love A Day In Your Life though, its on youtube and its a song they recorded during the Forever sessions with Elliot Kennedy and its such a beautiful song. i was really hoping they included it on the Forever25 album but they didnt
