It's starting g to get a little bit repetitive itself. It's been a fascinating project, and good fun, but by the end of the month it will have just about run its course.
Perhaps that's the very reason why it's getting repetitive: 1 January 2026 is the final horizon.
The station has no serious future.
A bit late to the party but only heard about this pop up station a short while back…
I know Global get a good bashing on here (and rightly so for most things!), but this is truly exceptional. The attention to detail, audio processing and the jingles are absolutely bang-on. This is what an oldies station should sound like. Well done Global and if they’re seeing the comments… take the hint - people love this format. Maybe re-image Gold Radio like this…? 🤔
Stranger things using trunking up that hill ended up getting that to number 1.i think this netflix global tie up will open younger people's ears to even more 80s songs and artists.wouldnt be surprised if this adds more listeners to heart 80s when the station closes maybe that's the plan 67 years old I well prefer this to gold

Been there, done that with the Stranger Things series getting Kate Bush to Number 1 in the charts.
Yes, better than the Classic Rock version they have, it's too divers. Or make a Capital FM tribute fun station, with the old imaging, music and soundprocessing from back in the day.
You still havent indicated what era you would like this Capital FM tribute station to evoke.
Are you thinking late 80s with high rotations of Sonia and Krush, or perhaps early 90s with lots of Mr Big, Nick Berry and Danni Minogue? How about early 00s going heavy with Gareth Gates and Hear'say?
These were all the big CHR names of their eras, but does anybody honestly want to hear that stuff again?
There's a reason why classic hits libraries are small. Most of the CHR titles were of their time, often novelty or were the 3rd or 4th track squeezed out of a hot artist at the time.
Even, songs aside, does anybody, other than a diminishing number of boomer anoraks want to listen to ego maniac presenters 'rocking the mic' and shouting over intros?

I think make it a mix from all these periods between 80's en early 90's, before the 'Z100 New York' type of music mix came through like it is now and when it was a real station for London and not for the whole country.
Yeh a capital.of 80s 90s early 00s would be good.booms already doing 50s 60s 70s.foxy and others tried to do it with Thames and nation.think global would make it better than that.

Nobody listened to a CHR for that era span. What you're suggesting would be a classic hits format, not a CHR tribute.

So it would be on DAB in London ( no point being national anyway as non anoraks outside London/SE would never have heard it anyway)targeting the late to mid Gen X age group, most of which won't live in London anymore, with a diet of PWL and house crossovers?
I'm always happy to be proved wrong, but I think that really would be pi$$ing in the docklands wind.
Comments
Wait and see.
Especially since only London listeners would recognise it.

Just enjoy the next 2 weeks for what it is. A brilliantone off never to be repeated promotion.

You were listening to Fix Radio's electrical show by mistake.
