While U.DAB shows impressive coverage, it underestimates that London N can still be received in Bromley, Penge etc and unlike London S, it has decent coverage in places such as Brixton, Peckham, Dulwich etc.

Yeh im not sure if this is indoor or outdoor coverage map, either way it is way bigger then the west & south London muxs.
Oh, that station that ripped off a few people, recorded ads off LBC and made false claims before running out of cash. That classic line up of Dave, Dave & Andy now I see. Just what we all need.
North London (U.DAB) has finally updated their website.
So... DSP licence.... £1,500?!?!
C-DSPs in their local mux area get a significant discount on this. This is one mux that is likely to always be oversubscribed and have a waiting list - this pricing looks to be set up with the aim of deterring the usual out-of-town religious megaphones and syndicated dance mix stations that tend to take up capacity on these muxes in urban areas, and instead have a variety of locally based services with different formats and local community involvement.
They could have set their pricing differently and not had as much differentiation between C-DSP and DSP, but they seem to want to genuinely encourage local operators onto the mux rather than running it for maximum income. Some stations may complain, but these are the going rates. It's cheaper to be on a mux in Blackburn than in London, just like housing and pretty much everything else.
Services have just gone live on Rugby+Daventry:
................................
Very impressive (particularly if they manage to hold on to these once the free period ends) particularly considering the relatively thin pickings up the road on the Coventry SSDAB mux, which I assumed would've have been the more attractive mux to be on.

Coventry might have more people, but Rugby mux has huge land area. A city site at 65w compared to a prime hilltop site – the highest around – at 1000w. It's a good 30 minutes coverage on the motorway (I found that out this morning in my van).
Weald Radio is launching on West Kent DAB, and they are running announcements each hour saying that they will appear "at the very end of 2025", so I'm assuming it should be fired up really soon.

Comparing the trial map with the new U.DAB map it appears that coverage has been lost south of the A205 South Circular (Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Kew, Richmond) but has been boosted to the north around New Barnet, Cheshunt, Waltham Abbey, Woodford & Chigwell etc. Maybe as you would expect from a 'North' London mux.
However it retains several distinctly 'West London' places like Acton, Hammersmith, Fulham and Chiswick, and of course the prosperous Kensington & Chelsea.
I'd assume before the change to London N, they must have done some tweaks to the Honor Oak tx as I now get full signal strength where as previously it was half the strength. I wonder if the tx is now nulled towards Bromley/Croydon while blasting out towards the North (facing the City of London), west and north east?

I think that leaves only Newark where we are yet to hear news of an outcome from Round Seven. Round Eight applications (the final planned round) closes at 5pm today.

Wohnort seems to have results of round 8 now
Is it not just marking those where no expressions of interest were reported as being received by Ofcom in 2023?
Some of those may get applications (and some of those that had interest in 2023 may not now). Although overall you'd expect a lot not to get applications - they've been left to last for a reason, and Ofcom listing 50 of them in a single round (compared with 25-30 in other rounds) very strongly suggests they expect a lot to get no interest.

That's correct, the orange crosses are licences where there were no expressions of interest in the Ofcom survey in 2023.
Round 8 mops up everything that hasn't been advertised (and a few re-advertisements). It's more of an admin exercise and a lot of the ones with orange crosses are unlikely to generate interest. At least Ofcom can say they offered them though.
Looks like Chelmsford SSDAB is almost ready for launch! Their website now states 'We are working on the switch on for December 2025 (Estimated 19th/20th of December) - but with an official launch in January 2026.' They are also offering free carriage until the end of January.
The Maxxwave website has been updated. Seems Newark wasn't approved, but they have applied for Lincoln and seems they may merge Newark with that one.
Seems they also applied for Telford/Shrewsbury, Burton/Lichfield, Derby and Leamington Spa/Stratford-upon-Avon.
Their website also lists Lincoln/Newark, which wasn't advertised in round eight. How does that work?
Lincoln was advertised in round 8. Simple really, they get the Lincoln license, then apply for an extension to Newark. The two areas share a strong affinity, even the old Lincs FM used to say 'Across Lincolnshire and Newark'.

Any idea how this compares with the Trial rates?

Yeh I believe they are waiting on the nod from Ofcom.
Weald Radio had its DSP licence issued in the summer. Just a case of waiting for the SSDAB licence holders to build everything.
West Kent Radio also has its licence in place.
I make it 13 areas in round five, all due before 22 January. Of those, five are in Kent.
However it retains several distinctly 'West London' places like Acton, Hammersmith, Fulham and Chiswick, and of course the prosperous Kensington & Chelsea.

The map of the increased coverage doesn't show any improvement in Northwich, just improvement to the southern fringes and loss of coverage to the north. The reality is that the higher transmitter power will likely make the signal more robust in areas already covered.
Interesting that '...the full capital cost of the changes will be borne by Wigan & St Helens DAB Ltd' .
