MMP stands for "Member of Matt's Parliament". Each day Matt randomly selects one of the 650 parliamentary constituencies and the listener with the best claim to the constituency gets a certificate. Silly feature but it gets people involved.
I'd never actually been there but they were getting a bit desperate for claims. During the 1985-86 miners' strike I worked for Greenwich Council in London, who "twinned" with Easington as a publicity stunt. So I thought I'd give it a go for once.
Anyone know why 5Live & Sports Extra don't provide any commentary for the English clubs in the Europa League and Conference League but they do broadcast the Scottish clubs in these compettions? I know this is basically just a syndication from Radio Scotland, but why couldn't they also do the same for the English teams when they are covered on BBC local radio?

talkSPORT don't have any of the Amazon Champions League matches, so their rights seem to be linked with TNT (who are one of their sponsors).

Just heard that there will be a (roughly) half-hour podcast version of Matt Chorley's show called "Matt Chorley's Urgent Questions" from Monday. About time too - his Times Radio podcast was extremely good.
Not sure who she is but the young lady doing the paper review might want to be reminded that all elderly people are part of peoples lives so aren’t a burden on the young causing them to pay more tax as she claims .

That's a non-sequitur. Pensions and services for retired people are funded from taxes being paid right now by those in work. (The taxes that the retirees paid when they worked having been spent in the years they paid them.) And it is a valid economic and political point that the changing demographics of the UK means that the proportion of retired people to working people is increasing, meaning that those in work have to fund more retired people.
Maybe the presenter didn't phrase it carefully or tactfully enough, but it is a reasonable economic point to make. It isn't making value judgements on humans of different ages; it's about the maths of how many there are.
One day she might be old and need the NHS etc .

Just thought I'd come on here to say what a refreshing change it has been having Kathryn Stanczyszyn cover 'Up All Night' - or whatever it's called now - this week.
It's been a nice smooth general phone in, rather than the absolute tired World Football Phone In etc, Doton's trademark patter and sayings which grind after nearly a decade with no refresh.

I was thinking the same thing. Kath Stanczyszyn was a far better and easier listen. I wonder if it's time to move Dotun back to weekends and have a general phone in through the week. They haven't got weekend overnights right for a long time and change presenter every few months.
I've heard most of Weekend Breakfast a lot over the past few weeks on some long journeys. Ellie Oldroyd is very underrated and so easy to listen to. I think they need a stronger presenter to work with her. Janette Kwakye would be great on sport, I think they've put her on this show a few years too soon.
