As well as the content, it's curious that the old GCAP musicradio.com domain is still in use.
I was very proud of my danl@musicradio.com email address, back in 1996!
It was certainly better than koko.com (that's K-O-K-O.com).
I'm sure musicradio.com is quite a valuable domain. Not surprised Global have kept it on.
It's always a good idea to get a memorable URL - B&Q will be in no hurry to get rid of diy.com, even if it doesn't have a B or Q in it! There's a facilities management firm not far from me whose website is cityfm.com - one wonders how many radio stations they had to beat to get that! Koko probably wasn't so great for an audio medium, particularly as one of the network shows it supported was CoreControl, spelled with a Co and a Co...
Back to talking about the actual station... I like listening for a couple of hours at a time. It's been done really well.
I did hear a rather messy edit of Tears for Fears Shout yesterday though. It started off fine and I know it's a long song, but if you're going to edit a track make sure it still flows, not just randomly chop out a bit and come back in without keeping to the beat.
I think the job was done with a hacksaw from Hawkins Hardware.

Yeah, I recorded a couple of hours for posterity. More for the collection.
I have 18 hours so far
In years gone by I would have done the same, but know it's just to have a recording of anything "different" for the collection. As my hearing is nearly gone, I don't listen to the radio (or indeed my recordings) any more.

Does anyone know of software that would capture just the metadata from the steam in a text file? It would be interesting to leave this grabbing the song titles for a few days to see what the full playlist is like.

Their final show on New Year's Eve is not surprisingly a party show from 4pm. I'm expecting some stranger things to happen towards the end of the show.
I wonder if the station will have any lasting influence on other oldies stations in the UK playing the same ol' oldies tunes year after year. The station should be a wake-up call. I doubt whether it will be.

It's starting g to get a little bit repetitive itself. It's been a fascinating project, and good fun, but by the end of the month it will have just about run its course.
I hope this station remains the same after january 1st, even it's online only as a little Global substation. It's a nice addition to my list of radiostations I listen to. Or they revamp this stream to another station with the same feeling, processing, imaging etc.

It's a commercial promotion. When Netflix stop paying Global will close it down.
Yes, better than the Classic Rock version they have, it's too divers. Or make a Capital FM tribute fun station, with the old imaging, music and soundprocessing from back in the day.

And for their playlists!

Perhaps an enhanced super-wide stereo sound is back en vogue?
I haven't a scotty mcclue what you mean

Or maybe a razor blade and bit of sticky tape.

Online Radio Box does this without needing to set up any software: https://onlineradiobox.com/uk/wsqk/playlist/
You can go back through days to see each day's playlist.

It’s a popup station for a commercial client, so it’s very unlikely. But in true Digital Spy fashion, we’ll have to weight and sea.
Radio X 80s could be a natural progression, perhaps?
I'd listen the hell out of that, but I'm afraid its appeal would be too niche for Global to consider.
