The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
PlexB transcripts are broadly distributed during early embryogenesis. Starting at the extended germ band stage, expression is strong in the CNS but is reduced elsewhere. After stage 15, transcripts are mainly restricted to the CNS where they are found in many neurons. Expression is also observed in myoblasts but does not persist in muscle fibers.
