dRFX, Regulatory factor X
transcription factor - RFX DNA-binding domain - essential regulator of ciliated sensory neuron differentiation - Forkhead transcription factor Fd3F cooperates with Rfx to regulate a gene expression program for mechanosensory cilia specialization.

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Annotated transcripts do not represent all supported alternative splices within 5' UTR.
Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Rfx
Rfx protein is initally expressed at embryonic stage 11, in external sensory organ precursor cells (SOPs) in the gnathal segments, and in the first two SOPs to appear in each thoracic and abdominal segment. At embryonic stages 12-14, Rfx is expressed in the progeny of these cells. At embryonic stage 15, Rfx is found predominantly the nuclei of chordotonal and external sensory organ neurons, and faintly in the accessory sister support cells of these neurons. Expression in the accessory cells fades during embryonic stage 16. Expression is maintained in the nuclei of chordotonal and external sensory organ neurons through the end of embryogenesis. Rfx is expressed in all external sensory organ neurons of the embryonic head, except for the Bolwig organ neuron. Rfx protein is localized to the nucleus. Rfx is also expressed in the embryonic brain, starting at embryonic stage 12, where is it expressed in two small bilateral cell clusters in the procephalic neurogenic region. Fron stage 14-17, this expression persists in a small number of cells abutting the optic lobe invagination. Similar expression is obsesrved in the larval and pupal brain lobes. Rfx is absent from larval imaginal disc SOPs; expression reappears later in development, in SOPs of pupal leg, wing and antennal discs. The first pupal expression is observed in the neurons of the femoral chordotonal organs. Rfx protein is also transiently expressed in elongation stage spermatids, but not in round spermatids nor in late condensing spermatids.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
