Expression of Hsap\CLU^Scer\UAS.S under the control of either Scer\GAL4^da.G32 or Scer\GAL4^D42 results in an increase in mean lifespan compared to controls.

Flies expressing Hsap\CLU^Scer\UAS.S under the control of Scer\GAL4^D42 show significantly increased tolerance to heat shock at 37[o]C, with a mean survival time of 11.5 hours compared to 9.7 hours for controls. The flies also show significantly increased tolerance to wet starvation and to oxidative stress (induced by paraquat) compared to controls.
