CtBP87De-10/Df(3R)ry615 exhibit a significant increase in the number of ommatidia and following defects in antenna: second and third antennal segments are somewhat larger, the aristae are slightly shorter with the main shaft tapering more prominently along the proximal-distal axis and branches from the main shaft are curved, and the number of bristles on second segment is reduced while Johnston's organs appear normal when compared to control pharate adults.
Almost all mosaic animals with CtBP87De-10 homozygous clones and many mosaic animals with clones (in Minute background), both comprising most of the eye-antennal disc derived structures in the adult head, survive to adulthood as in controls.
Mosaic animals with CtBP87De-10 clones (in Minute background) exhibit increased eye size, minor antennal defects and following head defects: loss of most post-vertical, ocellar, frontal, postorbital, and all interocellar bristles; one or more vertical bristles with extra or double bristles; occasionally missing or duplicated orbital bristles; large ocelli and surrounding ocellar cuticle while they exhibit similar distance across the dorsal head between eyes and no significant change in the number of ommatidia
compared to control adults.
Mosaic animals with CtBP87De-10 clones exhibit larger pre-morphogenetic-furrow clones with significantly more cell proliferation (PH3 staining); and animals with clones (in Minute background) exhibit gaps in the developing ommatidial array when compared to control clones in the third instar larval eye-antennal discs.
CtBP03463/CtBP87De-10 heterozygous pharates display extra dorsal thoracic mechanosensory bristles (additional bristles attached to sockets) and, less frequently, double bristles (two bristles housed in the same socket structure) and bald cuticle (complete loss of both bristles and their associated sockets). Only a subset of bristles are affected.
Within CtBP87De-10 dorsal thorax clones, extra bristles, double bristles forming from the same socket, bald cuticle, and sockets lacking bristles are observed. All but the presutural bristle appear to be affected. The double bristle phenotypes appear exclusively at the anterior scutellar bristle and posterior dorsocentral bristle positions. Bald cuticle appears in all regions except the posterior postalar bristle and presutural regions. Socket without bristle phenotype is observed for all positions except the presutural position.
A putative cell polarity abnormality of the microchaetes is observed in CtBP87De-10 dorsal thorax clones.
CtBP87De-10 mutant cyst progenitor cell clones cannot be recovered.
About 65% of CtBP87De-10, CtBPUbi.T:Hsap\MYC flies show an extra macrochaete phenotype on the dorsal thorax.
Heterozygotes occasionally have bristle with a double-socket phenotype. CtBP03463/CtBP87De-10 pharate adults show bristle shaft defects and shaft loss.

In CtBP87De-10/+ background expression of egrUAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5 (with tub-Gal80[ts] restricting expression to third instar larvae) leads to either no ectopic wings (in majority) or ectopic wings (24-hour-expression yielding a lower frequency than 40-hour-expression) on one or two sides compared to controls. Ectopic wings occur most frequently when expression is induced on early stages of third instar larvae. After expression has ceased, wing discs exhibit morphological changes associated with the outgrowth of an ectopic wing pouch from the posterior edge of the notum.
Expression of rprUAS.cUa, wgUAS.cHa.Tag:HA, grndintra.UAS, upd1UAS.cUa or hepUAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5 (with tub-Gal80[ts] restricting expression to third instar larvae) in CtBP87De-10/+ background does not lead to ectopic wings (or ectopic wing pouches in wing discs with upd1UAS.cUa) compared to controls.
Restricted expression of wgUAS.cHa.Tag:HA to second but not third instar larvae (under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU and tub-Gal80[ts]) leads to ectopic wing pouches in wing discs in CtBP87De-10/+ background compared to controls.
40-hour- (but not 24-hour-) expression of hepCA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4rn-GAL4-5 (with tub-Gal80[ts] restricting expression to third instar larvae) in CtBP87De-10/+ background leads to occasional ectopic wings compared to controls.
Mosaic animals with CtBP87De-10 danems3 double homozygous clones exhibit significantly fewer ommatidia than single homozygous mosaic eyes and control clones.
Mosaic animals with CtBP87De-10 danems3 danrex35 triple homozygous clones (in Minute background) exhibit defects in ommatidia with a higher frequency when compared to danems3 danrex35 double homozygous clones (in Minute background).
CtBP87De-10 combined with h41, ttkrM730 or Df(3R)awd-KRB leads to an ectopic margin bristle phenotype.
CtBP87De-10 dominantly enhances the bristle defects seen in HE31/+ flies. This enhancement is almost entirely due to shaft-socket transformations, with only a mild effect on bristle loss.
