0800 What's Up provides free, compassionate and confidential support over phone and online chat. We are here to help youth in New Zealand who may be looking for support with abuse & domestic violence, anxiety, bullying, depression, eating & body image, family issues, gender & sexual identity, grief & loss, loneliness, pregnancy & abortion, relationships, school or work issues, self-harm, sexual abuse, stress, substance use, suicide, supporting a friend or family member, trauma & PTSD.
We are dedicated to preventing suicide. If you are contemplating suicide or wanting to kill yourself, we will listen without judgment.
When you contact us you will talk with one our friendly and supportive counselors who will listen to you with empathy and understanding, and work together with you to find a meaningful way forward. They are experienced in knowing how to help people who have challenges like what you are going through. We also provide regular counselling options where you can speak to the same counsellor on an ongoing basis.

A safe place for children and young people in Aotearoa to talk with a professional counsellor for free, about anything at all. No problem is too big or small. Phone (11am-11pm) and webchat (11am-10:30pms) options available, and you can ask for the same counsellor each time. Counsellors are specialised in listening to and working with children and young people, so you can trust them. 0800 What's Up is now also welcoming any callers who would have usually called Kidsline.
