Free Online Animated GIF Maker

The GIF maker allows you to instantly create animated GIFs by combining separate image files as frames. Produced GIFs are high quality and free of watermarks or attribution, making this tool ideal for developers and content creators.

To make a GIF, you can upload a sequence of GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, AVIF, and other image types, a ZIP archive containing images, or even mix different formats and sizes - they will be converted automatically. You can also upload animated GIF, WebP, or APNG images, which will be split while preserving delay times. This allows the GIF maker to also be used to edit, shorten, or merge existing GIFs. The maximum resolution is 1920x1920px. Images larger than this will be resized automatically during upload.

How to Make a GIF:

  1. Upload Images: Drag files into the upload box or click "Choose files" to select your images. Hold Ctrl/Command to select multiple files.
  2. Adjust Settings: Change animation speed, frame order, and transparency settings after uploading.
  3. Generate & Edit: Click "Make a GIF!" to generate the image. You can download the result or continue editing it using our tools.

Tips for GIF Creation

  • You can control the speed of the entire GIF by setting a "Delay time" under "GIF options" or adjusting the delay for individual frames using the "Delay" input box next to each frame.
Delay time is measured in hundredths of a second (1/100) between frames - a larger value makes the animation slower.
It's not advisable to set the delay time lower than 2, as some browsers may ignore such values and default to a slower animation speed.
  • By default, all frames will be sorted alphabetically by filename (and will keep the original order if you upload an existing animation). You can drag and drop them within the GIF animator area to rearrange.
  • Enable the "Crossfade frames" option if you want to create a smooth, fading transition between images - ideal for creating photo slideshows. A greater "Frame count" and shorter "Fader delay" will result in smoother animation but will significantly increase the file size, as the GIF maker generates more frames between the original ones. Adjust these values to find the right balance for your needs.
  • If you upload images of different sizes, two additional options will appear: automatically resize and crop them to match the smallest dimensions, or choose the alignment (e.g., top-left or center). You can also manually enter top/left coordinates in pixels for each frame.
  • To create GIF images from a video, use the Video to GIF tool instead.
  • To make a GIF from a sprite sheet, use the sprite cutter tool.
