The 2026 Golden Globes nominations have arrived in A-list style this awards season. With help from celebrity presenters Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall, the Golden Globes nominations helped usher in major contenders into the ongoing awards race — though they dealt a surprising blow to the Wicked: For Good campaign, as the musical sequel was surprisingly shut out of the Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy category despite stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande earning acting nominations for the second year in a row. On the other hand, Ryan Coogler's vampire blockbuster Sinners slayed the film categories with major notices across the board, including for Best Motion Picture — Drama as well as for Coogler's direction and Michael B. Jordan's leading performance. In addition to Erivo, Grande, and Sinners, other major potential Oscar players to show up among the Globes nominations included One Battle After Another and its ensemble cast (Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn), Frankenstein stars Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, Sentimental Value, Weapons' Amy Madigan, Jafar Panahi's It Was Just an Accident, and Dwayne Johnson's prestige performance in The Smashing Machine. This year's nominations came amid a drastically changing identity for the Golden Globes, which previously dissolved its storied Hollywood Foreign Press Association voting body, and implemented new diversity standards and categories — including this year's controversial Best Podcast bracket, for which Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, and Amy Poehler all qualified, though the most controversial commentators didn't appear among the final list of nominees (below). Earlier this year, Emilia Pérez dominated the 2025 Golden Globes ceremony, racking up four wins — including Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, while star Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress ahead of winning in the same category at the Oscars. Still, neither Emilia Pérez nor the Globes' 2025 winner for Best Motion Picture — Drama (The Brutalist) repeated at the Oscars, with Sean Baker's Anora ultimately winning Best Picture and star Mikey Madison besting presumed frontrunner (and Golden Globe winner) Demi Moore (The Substance) for Best Actress. As previously announced, two industry superstars will receive special awards at the 2026 Golden Globes, including Dame Helen Mirren, this year's recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Sarah Jessica Parker, the latest Carol Burnett Award winner. Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter. Both stars will accept their trophies at a new, separately televised primetime special titled Golden Eve.
