ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster, could still decide to return to Eurovision Choir in 2023 according to Eurofestivales.
Martin Traxl, the Head of the ORF Cultural Department, confirmed to Eurofestivales that Austria could still take part in Eurovision Choir 2023. Earlier, the broadcaster had stated that it would not be competing in this yearโs contest.
According to Mr. Traxl, the participation in the competition will depend on the cost of it. The final decision on participation will be made in March.
Austria took part in the first edition of Eurovision Choir in 2017. Hardchor Linz represented the nation in Riga but did not place in the top 3. Austria then withdrew from the contest in 2019.
Eurovision Choir 2023
Initially, the third edition was supposed to take place in 2021, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the contest was canceled. To date the following broadcasters have confirmed participation:
