José Carlos Malato and Nuno Galopim have been confirmed as the Portuguese commentators for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
Portuguese broadcaster RTP has revealed that José Carlos Malato and Nuno Galopim will provide commentary for Portugal at the contest in a few weeks time. This will be the fourth consecutive year for Nuno, whereas José returns to the commentary booth after his debut in 2017.
Representing Portugal in Tel Aviv is Conan Osiris, who was selected after he won Festival da Canção 2019 with “Telemóveis”.
Who is Conan Osíris?
Conan Osíris will represent Portugal in Tel Aviv with the song “Telemóveis”. Conan was born in Lisbon in 1989 and has been performing since 2011.
From the moment that “Telemóveis” was revealed as competing in the Portuguese selection, Conan was the favourite to win. The song went viral ahead of the Grand Final, with his performance in semi-final one receiving nearly 2 million views in two weeks.

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by Antonio Calvario, the country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2016, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lucia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving the 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar Pelos Dois.” The 2018 contest was held in Lisbon, Portugal for the first time.
