Infobox Venue and theaters
[edit]The venue infobox widely used on pages for theaters is inadequate for capturing the details of artistic organizations, while infobox performing arts company is inadequate for discussing the physical plant of a company. I've started a discussion at Template talk:Infobox venue#Fields for buildings with synonymous organizations to come up with a solution BrechtBro (talk) 19:13, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Input needed
[edit]Editors may wish to comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Drayton Entertainment production history. The outcome of this AFD could impact other performing arts related list, including those lists related to the production/performance history of theatre companies and festivals. All opinions are welcome.4meter4 (talk) 18:10, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

The article Sarah Saltzberg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:GNG and WP:NACTOR. Only trivial mention in secondary sources, no significant coverage, and existing primary sources are not independent of the subject, like bohemiarealtygroup.com and Playbill.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 01:22, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
Jennie Goldstein
[edit]Request for someone interested in the history of Yiddish theater. There is an error in the article for Jennie Goldstein -- she was born on 8 May 1894, not 1896, as is proved by her passport, her Social Security records, and other sources which I've collected at FamilySearch. At some point she herself probably subtracted years from her age -- she is three years younger in the 1930 census than the 1910 one, and her obituary in the Forward gives her age as 64 rather than the actual 66. Anyway, the reason this matters is because it's stated in the article, but without any source, that she made her theatrical debut at age 6. It doesn't say what exact play that was. I think there is some reason to doubt the truth of this statement -- at the very least, it needs a source. Levana Taylor (talk) 06:07, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Archival photos of theatrical productions from the Stadttheater Bern for use on Wikipedia
[edit]
Hello,
I am writing to inform you that we have imported nearly 1,000 photos of theatrical performances taken by Fred Erismann between 1933 and 1968 as part of his work as a photographer for the Stadttheater in Bern into Wikimedia Commons. The rights of reuse were released by his daughter when she donated her father's archives to the SAPA Foundation (Swiss Performing Arts Archives). On behalf of this foundation, we imported the photos with certain structured metadata into Commons, then added links to the images in the corresponding production entries in Wikidata (project page on Wikidata).
The photos are recordings of performances or rehearsals. The plays performed can be identified using the metadata imported into Commons. The name of the play can be found under “Title” and by following the link under “Source” you can also find the photograph's entry directly in the performing-arts.ch database managed by the SAPA Foundation. In this entry, the description of the production itself can be found under “Subject”.
You can find these photos in the Commons category Fonds Erismann (SAPA-A-1553). You can also filter photos using these different queries:
- List of images grouped by representation: https://w.wiki/HsDB
- List of images grouped by work: https://w.wiki/HsDD
- List of photos whose main subject has an article on English Wikipedia: https://w.wiki/Hsym
Unfortunately, we do not have any information about the people depicted in the photos. However, we hope that some of you will be able to identify them.
I think some of these images could be useful to illustrate Wikipedia articles: please feel free to use them as you see fit (examples of reuse: the opera Penthesilea, the theater play Woyzeck on French Wikipedia).
If you have any questions about the images, or specific requests regarding inquiries or information to be forwarded to the SAPA Foundation, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you in advance. VIGNERON en résidence (talk) 14:50, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- @VIGNERON en résidence: I would suggest placing this message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red as they are a very active WikiProject that writes in many content areas. Their editors would be particularly interested and helpful in identifying women in the photographs. There are many editors their that specialize in images. Done thanks for the idea. Cheers, VIGNERON en résidence (talk) 15:19, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Editors may wish participate in this event at WP:WikiProject Women in Red featuring opera and theater works by women. Any articles on operas by women would be appreciated. Sorry for the belated notice. I wasn't aware February was the month we were doing this until just now.4meter4 (talk) 19:18, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
