Could we move Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Artists to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual artists since that is the topic and to cut down on erroneous postings? Jahaza (talk) 20:35, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

or …/Visual arts ? —Tamfang (talk) 05:06, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I'm tagging for merger. The two pages are relatively low traffic and non-visual artists are regularly being put into Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Artists and then they have to be removed again, which is a waste of time. Jahaza (talk) 22:15, 26 June 2025 (UTC) (time stamp incorrect)[reply]

If the two are merged, it should keep the name Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual arts and should not be changed to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Visual artists because there would no longer be a del sort for galleries and museums, arts organizations, murals, works of graphic design, public art, collaborative efforts and teams, etc. I have no opinion on the merger at this time, but feel quite strongly that if it goes forward, it should not be called Visual artists, but should remain visual art. Netherzone (talk) 22:08, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Right, exactly that. Previously I suggested renaming "Artists" to "Visual artists" to reduce confusion, but now I'm suggesting instead a merge to "Visual arts". If people don't want a merge, then as a fall back, we could keep "Visual arts" and change Artists to "Visual artists" as originally proposed. But I agree that we want to keep a general Visual arts category, regardless. Jahaza (talk) 22:14, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion sorting for deletion

[edit]

Hey all, I have nominated Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Magic for deletion. Please discuss it at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Magic if you are interested. Thank you. jolielover♥talk 13:19, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jolielover It looks like the delsort project needs a lot of cleanup. Why does wine have its own topic when no other food and drink types have their own topics? Why do we have piracy and logic topics that get two entries per year? Helpful Raccoon (talk) 06:07, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've noticed this for wine too, food and drink is more than enough. I did not know piracy/logic had deletion sortings. The former fits in crime, and logic... what even can be in that sorting? Anything logic based will also be based in something else, like math, science, etc which have their own sortings. jolielover♥talk 06:57, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like there was Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Piracy which closed in 2014 with no consensus because at least one person found it useful, although that person hasn't edited since 2021. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 07:17, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Bot misbehaving?

[edit]

As of December 13th (maybe a day or so earlier) I am getting notifications (email) from deletion sorting sections that I am not subscribed to, and are not of interest. Everytime when this happens I get an email, then tracing I am subscribed. This just happened for "Medicine", it happened before for "United Kingdom", "Events", "Science", "Astronomy" from recent email logs. Ldm1954 (talk) 14:48, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't had anything similar happen to me but I'll let you know if I do. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:45, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same! I'm getting notifications that I have replies. I have nominated articles in this category, but I'm not watching or subscribed to the page. Did you manage to fix it? Orange sticker (talk) 15:50, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It has never been fixed. What I do is whenever they occur I unsubscribe from that category. Now there are less as I have unsubscribed from almost everything! Ldm1954 (talk) 15:53, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll try that. Just started in the last 24 hours, very annoying! Orange sticker (talk) 15:58, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion sorting for Australian rules football

[edit]

Recently, several AfDs related to the sport have appeared, some included in the deletion sorting of football/association football. Wouldn't it be time to create one specifically for the sport? Svartner (talk) 05:32, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

New deletion sorting tag for Suspected AI-generated articles

[edit]

I've created a new deletion sorting tag for Suspected AI-generated articles (see discussion). There are many AI-generated articles which speedy deletion criterion WP:G15 does not apply but nonetheless contain verification and tone failures.

Detecting AI-generated content and judging whether its reparable, is whole another skill set than determining notability and would benefit from attracting expert. Ca talk to me! 08:51, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
