Proposed deletion of triple crown statistical categories
[edit]There's an ongoing discussion arising from the categories for Negro League triple crown winners, but also touching on the validity of categories for the American and National Leagues for both hitting and pitching triple crown statistics. At present it doesn't sound like there's much participation by people with significant knowledge of baseball; comments seem focused on whether statistics are mere trivia not worth documenting on Wikipedia. This could ultimately impact major topics in this WikiProject, and so participation by its members in the discussion is probably desirable. P Aculeius (talk) 16:28, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
Lead in MLB season articles
[edit]Why is Major League Baseball lowercased to "major league baseball", in the leads of Year MLB season articles? GoodDay (talk) 22:41, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- It's not that way for every season. I suspect this has to do with MLB not being a formal organization for the entirety that there has been baseball played between the NL and AL. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 22:47, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Should be all capitalised, IMHO. GoodDay (talk) 22:55, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- It depends on if it referring to the organization of Major League Baseball or just the concept of a major baseball league. Spanneraol (talk) 00:42, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, major league can be a generic term w.r.t. to baseball. —Bagumba (talk) 07:30, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Having intros read as "1971 major league baseball season..." & "1981 Major League Baseball season...", appears odd. GoodDay (talk) 15:41, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

- I don't have an opinion on lead sentences, but this was discussed here Sloopyploop (talk) 08:41, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
Al Demaree
[edit]I've just been pumping up Al Demaree a bit, with some information on his cartooning career and on his run in non-MLB professional leagues in the 19-ooughts and tens. However, I'm doing it for the cartooning work, am not really a historic baseball guy, so it might be good for someone to give it at least a look-see and make sure I've not messed it up in some really obvious ways. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 03:14, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
