Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Italy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Italy. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Italy. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except is used for MFD and transclude xfd for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with prodded will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Europe.

Wickipedia is not Which magazine. Puff peice for an unremarkable bit of kitchen fluff. TheLongTone (talk) 15:06, 27 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Respectfully, the article includes multiple sources which describe the subject as a notable example of its type, namely Hoffmann and Frauenfelder. I can add more, if it helps.
If the concern is that the article appears to be unduly lionizing the machine, I don't agree, but I'd be happy to add information on the machine's notable weaknesses, namely with respect to thermal management.
I would also note that there is a page for the Faema E-61, which has been up for some time, and flagged for using only a single source.
For what it's worth, I have never read Which magazine. TheScholemaster (talk) 16:42, 27 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Subject doesn't meet the WP:GNG due to a lack of WP:SIGCOV. The only reference is a database, and I didn't find anything to establish notability elsewhere. From what I can tell, she may have had some more success to date in cyclocross, but all I could find there were mentions like in 1 and 2 which can hardly be considered significant. • Delete All I could find was some passing mentions, but nothing to base an article on. She does appear to be still active, so I wouldn't be opposed to draftifying this in case she gets some coverage in the coming season. It appears she races mainly in Belgium where she has had some good placing, so its possible there is some WP:SIGCOV in Belgian sources, but I don't know where to look for such sources. Subject fails to meet the WP:GNG because of a lack of WP:SIGCOV from reliable, independent sources. All I could find was his obituary at 8, which doesn't even mention his brief NFL career and just based on content, can't be considered significant. The only references actually in the article are databases. A redirect to 1926 Hartford Blues season#Roster may be a suitable WP:ATD. Let'srun (talk) 17:41, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I also understand that there is a book covering some early Blues players, called First and Ten: Pro Football Players Born in Italy, but I am unsure if Santone is covered there. Even then, I'd be a bit hesitant on keeping this as it appears that it is self-published. Let'srun (talk) 17:46, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (struck for the moment), the First and Ten book has a six-page section on Santone, and was written by the historian / journalist Fausto Batella, one of the top experts of Italian football (1 2 3). Enough for WP:SPORTCRIT. There's enough to write a WP:NBASIC-compliant article here. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:05, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Is the book self-published, though? If it isn't, I'll be willing to withdraw this. Let'srun (talk) 18:13, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Batella published the book, but he's one of the top-regarded experts on the subject of Italian football. Self-published sources can be considered reliable if authored by experts. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:17, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not convinced he is an expert more so that he is a self-described expert on this (niche) topic. I'll let others in this discussion chose for themselves if that is the case. Let'srun (talk) 18:20, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to 1926 Hartford Blues season. I tried, but my searches turned up no WP:SIGCOV -- the closest thing is the obituary (probably a paid death notice given details about visitation, requiem mass, and burial) which makes no mention of his football "career". My hopes were raised by the book linked by Beanie -- a whole chapter about Santone! But then I read the chapter in full, and it is not about Santone. It is filled with generic facts about the history of Italian immigration and football in Hartford. The only information about Santone are the same bare facts set forth in database entries: (i) he played two games for Hartford, and (ii) dates and places of birth and death. A redirect preserves the article history so that it can be unearthed if and when true significant coverage is found. Cbl62 (talk) 15:39, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Comment looking at the results websites didn't give me much hope for finding anything, but a quick search turned up a few results [9] [10] [11] [12]
Don't have time to look further right now, I'll look in the next few days to see if I can find some more and make up my mind, but it looks like there should be more sources. Giulio 16:45, 21 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Weak Keep I've dug a bit further and what I've found is that she appears to have had a successful junior careers that got some WP:SIGCOV [13][14], however she had to prematurely end her career for health reasons (interview [15]) without having time to achieve much senior level.
I think there are just about enough sources for a reasonable article Giulio 23:46, 21 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Delete I found a little bit of coverage [16][17] as well as this which I think is more of a primary source as well as promotional [18]. I don't think this is enough to justify an article, but its not that far off and I could have missed something. Giulio 18:26, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Fails WP:BASICSPORT for a racing cyclist as non-notable. Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 23:10, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete - of course, two citations are not enough for a BLP. However, if someone can cobble together what's been found and write up something coherent, then it could be an article. My usual caveats: it's not my expertise and I'm done my share of rescuing. Ping me if you find and add one or two better sources. Bearian (talk) 14:06, 21 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - so my Italian isn't as good as it used to be, but I think there may be enough info to keep the page here: 1. Tuttobiciweb.it (notable Italian cycling news website) was reporting on an accident our athlete had- she was hit by a car during training and was out for two weeks. I think it provides independent coverage of a notable accident in her prof career from a reliable sports outlet. 2. Sportfolks.net (Italian sports media site) was reporting on her testing a certain route for future training. The details are all there in the story, but the point is that it offers dedicated feature style coverage with a direct input from her, potentially indicating that she's an expert + active professional. 3. Pedale Rosa (Italian women's cycling news site) was reporting on a fracture she suffered during raining in April 2019 that kept her out for a bit. It's, again, a verifiable, independent reporting on an injury as a pro cyclist (and her team role). 4. Liguria Sport (regional Italian sports news outlet): describes her as a former Elite cyclist with international race experience + the protagonist in a promotional video explaining the route for the inaugural women's Giro dell'Appennino in 2025, demonstrating ongoing recognition and post-retirement relevance in Italian cycling events from (what seems like) a credible local source, and not too long ago. Hello!
Pezzi della Sera, as I'm sure you read in the article, is an album by Marco Castello, a musical artist that is becoming more and more important in Italy. I'll admit, he's not at a so high level of fame, but neither are many artists whose albums are listed in Wikipedia articles.
Thanks for taking care of Wikipedia!
Dre DrefromItaly (talk) 15:43, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@DrefromItaly: why not create an article for Marco Castello then? I see your contributions are related to albums of the artist but not the artist himself. It's usually best to first create an article for the artist, and then for items of their discography if warranted. Skyshiftertalk 02:34, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I've thought about it. It all came down to the time I had available to work on Wikipedia lately. DrefromItaly (talk) 04:49, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
