Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Food and drink
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Food and drink. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Food and drink|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Food and drink. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

[edit]- De Soto Pharmacy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
After a quick BEFORE, I do not think De Soto Pharmacy meets NCORP. I have searched Google, Google Scholar, and Newspapers.com. The sources found primarily focus on the business closing rather than spotlighting the business while it was still operating. A search for "Jerry's Soda Shop", which was located inside found similar results. Although there is a hit for Food Network ([1]), I don't think this is enough to establish N. Ping me if sources are found. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 15:43, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

- Delete This is just one small local pharmacy and soda shop, not big or notable company. Coverage is only few local news when it was closing, nothing deep or independent about the business itself when it was active. Such small shop stories come in every local paper, that is WP:ROUTINE coverage, not WP:SIGCOV which WP:NCORP need. Most sources only talk emotional line like "beloved shop closing" etc etc.... no lasting impact or recognition. It is normal old business closing news. Fail WP:GNG and WP:CORPDEPTH. Notability not shown. LexyNight (talk) 17:08, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
This looks like a legitimate article from a distance, but it's just neatly formatted unsourced material. All but one of the citations is from www.drinksmixer.com, which is now defunct but when it existed was a collection of user-contributed drinks. See https://web.archive.org/web/20220530063247/http://www.drinksmixer.com/feedback/submit.php
There's also nothing distinguishing about the main definition compared to polar bears #2 through #5. If you do a web search there are lots of drinks called polar bear, they're all unrelated, and none of them is more popular than the others. Danbloch (talk) 21:24, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

Nominated for deletion because this whole article reads like a giant ad (actually just now googling it, seems there are several other restaurants in Vancouver that have also given themselves promotional wikipedia articles, if someone feels like doing a bit of house cleaning) and apart from being one of only a handful of such restaurants in BC it's otherwise not notable, thus failing WP: Notability. Alternatively the article could be substantially condensed and merged with a larger article on Canadian indigenous cuisine, if one exists. Badharlick (talk) 18:34, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

- Keep: Sources 13 and 28 talk about it, one is in a German media outlet, showing international notice. Should be more than enough with the other sourcing used. Oaktree b (talk) 19:36, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Also coverage here [2] and [3] Oaktree b (talk) 19:38, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Keep: This restaurant has surprisingly good coverage in secondary, published sources. Any peacocky language could be removed to keep the article neutral, but it is notable for a company. Yuchitown (talk) 15:13, 1 November 2025 (UTC)

- Delete: I don't see any coverage about him, mostly confirmation of where he's worked. This reads like a resume. The food writer could be notable, but besides columns he's written, there isn't much. Oaktree b (talk) 19:47, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
Administrator note The article is tagged as potential UPE. I can affirm that it is paid editing, and that the paid editing was declared, but that declaration was lost in a deletion. The paid editor was Anya Rubstein. -- asilvering (talk) 19:48, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

- Keep, but improve. Looking at Spanish and Portuguese source, I see enough reference that establish notability. Mag2k (talk) 21:56, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
