Second opinion

[edit]

Hey Veg Historian,

Could I ask you to review my revert discussion on the Cat Food talk page? I am puzzled to the replies' rationale and restores, and want to avoid an edit war. Anyway, I'd appreciate a fresh look and any feedback if you have time. Sklabb (talk) 17:14, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is the chapter "Nutritional Management of Orthopedic Diseases" by Herman Hazewinkel (from page 186). I agree that the content should be removed. There is a chart on page 195, "Potential deleterious effects in skeletal development in large-breed puppies on controlled calcium and energy intake" and page 196 talks about calcium absorption and deficiency in dogs. The reference does not mention cats. Per our WP:OR guidelines this content should be removed. I have just re-read over this chapter. There is mention of cats on page 225. Pages 195 and 196 are on dogs only. Veg Historian (talk) 18:15, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That saves my sanity. Any advice on what to do next? I worry that removing the section will simply get it reverted without a good reason again. I expected consensus to be enough to stop that. Sklabb (talk) 21:00, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The issue seems to have been resolved now, with the consensus view finally reflected on the page. It may be slow, but in the end the process works it seems! Thanks @Veg Historian for voicing your position more than once on this - this helps emphasizing the consensus when one opposite voice keeps going against it. Julian P. Thomas

Hi. I saw you uploaded some images about Thomas to commons. You might be interested in a new article I'm working on about him. I'm mostly interested in his ballooning; perhaps you could help out with the other aspects of his life? RoySmith (talk) 16:14, 5 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, many thanks for creating that article! I always wanted to create it but I struggled to find other info about him. There is some good newspaper coverage of his raw food vegetarian diet. I have will have a look into this at the weekend. Veg Historian (talk) 17:51, 5 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I haven't been able to locate a date of birth for him, so be on the lookout for that. This just got approved for DYK, so at some point it'll get some additional visibility. RoySmith (talk) 21:43, 5 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
