January–February 2026 NPP drive - Phase 2
[edit]
Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! Completing 22,502 patrols in the first phase made a significant dent in the backlog. Let's keep our foot on the gas for Phase 2, and I hope we can achieve even more reviews than Phase 1. Best of luck!

Hello, I am writting to ask what corrections I should try to have a chance of the page being published. So I have a better understanding, what are the issues with the articles submitted ? Where any of them acceptabile and I can remove the articles that do not pass for acceptiable?
Boyds has been in buinsess for 85+ years. If I expand more on the history in relation to Philadelphia with historic building images related to the owners and how they operated over the many years in the philadelphia downtown area, would that help?
I did makem sure to disclose that I am an employee of Boyds. There are other similar retailers with Wikipedia pages and similar to them the prupose is to share the history of a family owned business that has been around for so long.
Thanks in advance for any advice editing the page so it has a chance of being published.
thanks! - John Henderson
Howsyourrobot (talk) 22:26, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Howsyourrobot, I did indeed see your disclosure of employment, thank you. It is very difficult, if not impossible, for anyone with a conflict of interest to adhere to Wikipedia's Neutral point of view policy when writing about our COI subjects, no mattee how good our intentions. That's why I don't write substantive content about my current or past employers, and it's why COI editors are required to submit drafts for approval. A common issue that I see with new editors writing about themselves or their businesses is not fully appreciating the nature of an encyclopaedia, which is an independent summary of what secondary sources have said about the topic. It's not an advertising platform, nor a business directory listing every business that exists. The only articles you should consider as models are those listed as Good Articles or Featured Articles, which have been assessed as meeting our current policies. If you look at any of the Good or Featured articles about businesses and go to their edit histories, you will see that they have generally been edited by many people, most of whom have no connection to the topic. No individual or business owns the article about itself, and good articles are edited and maintained by volunteers who have in interest in the topic and its context, not by connected people who want to "share the history" of a business or represent the business's perspective. As a non-Philadelphian, I found this draft quite sparse and it didn't show me why Boyds merited inclusion in a global encyclopaedia. Writing more about its origins and role in Philadelphia's history would improve the draft's chances of being accepted, as long as these additions are supported by independent, secondary sources. For example, books and newspaper and magazine articles from reliable sources are generally what we are looking for, but not official/authorised histories or interviews as these are not independent. Again, it is much easier for an enthusiastic volunteer with no conflict of interest to write an article that meets our criteria, but you can certainly give it a try if you take this advice to heart. I would also suggest not trying to add any images at all at this stage, and reading the Image use policy first. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 07:59, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
W-ping
[edit]re Phabricator T408987 – I like the flexibility of W-Ping, but each list entry is connected to an existing article/page ...
I often link W-ping to a non-existent page. For example, on the first of each month I add a ping for an "article" like 2026-02 so that my list of pings is divided into blocks giving some indication of age — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 13:28, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

- Hello @Nahidontfeellikeit, did you have a question about editing Wikipedia? ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 00:56, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
Hello, I named my article draft LACLL but I'd like for it to be named Los Angeles County Law Library instead. Is there a way to change that or should I draft a new article? Thank you. --Essielaw (talk) 00:08, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Essielaw, don't worry about the title at this stage. Keep working on your draft where it is, and if it's accepted, the reviewer will give it the correct title (which you've put in the first sentence, so it should be clear to the reviewer). Question from IndefinitelyProtectedArticleTalker (22:28, 10 February 2026)
[edit]Hello, is it okay to only edit article talk pages by adding requests/suggestions/instructions/pointers on certain parts of the current wikilinking within an article? --IndefinitelyProtectedArticleTalker (talk) 22:28, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @IndefinitelyProtectedArticleTalker, have a look at Edit requests for general guidelines on how to make effective edit requests – small, specific, and uncontroversial changes are more likely to be approved. If you're particularly interested in links, also read the guidelines at Manual of Style/Linking. You're also welcome to make direct edits to non-protected articles to help you improve your editing. I suggest reading the Simplified ruleset and Simplified Manual of Style to understand the basics. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 21:44, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
How do I begin as a new editor? I feel hesitant to edit. I feel like I might make the original text worse?
Do you have any types? Grammar-wise and tone-wise, so that I can strengthen my informative writing and proofreading. --Boybingo (talk) 12:23, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia, @Boybingo! It's OK to feel a little hesitant as there are a lot of rules here, but the Simplified ruleset and Simplified Manual of Style have what you need to know to get started. You should have a personal homepage with suggested edits to start with, but only pick the ones that interest you or you feel confident about. Keep reading articles in your areas of interest to get a feel for the style and layout of articles. Don't worry, everyone makes mistakes sometimes, just be open to feedback from other editors, and have fun! ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 21:35, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

Question for my Greatest Mentor
[edit]I made a request for pending changes reviewer, do you think it will be approved? ArthurPlummer (talk | :) 03:08, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- I love your enthusiasm, but I feel you're unlikely to get the permission right now. Your account is 23 days old, not even extended confirmed yet. The PCCRITERIA don't have a strict threshold for
enough edits that a track record can be established
but in practice you'd need to have been around for a few months to be able to demonstrate this. It's not meant to be gatekeeping, it's just that it can take a few months to really get a feel for all the rules here. Keep up the good work you've been doing, with a general mindset of improving the encyclopaedia. In a few months you will have a better sense of which areas you like working in and might be able to see how specific tools or permissions would improve your workflow. How do I become a great editor? --EmirBola (talk) 08:13, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, EmirBola, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm Perfect4th, and I'm dropping by to help out ClaudineChionh for a day. You can become a great editor by, well, editing! Fixing typos or finding references for articles that need more references are great ways to get started if you'd prefer to start smaller, or find an article in a category you like and try finding some references to add content. Make some mistakes, listen to the feedback, and have fun! I'll put some helpful links on your talk page for you. Feel free again to ask away if you have any further/more specific questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 01:41, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from MUN-lover-9 (18:45, 26 February 2026)
[edit]Hello, how do you create a info box --MUN-lover-9 (talk) 18:45, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, MUN-lover-9, and welcome! I'm Perfect4th, and I'm dropping by to help ClaudineChionh for the moment. Are you trying to create a brand new infobox or use a style you've seen before? You can see general information about infoboxes and how to add existing ones to articles at Help:Infobox – you can generally find an existing infobox for whatever you're trying to do, but if there isn't one already, you can see Designing infoboxes for information about creating one, but don't forget to check with WikiProjects for consensus first :) Feel free to drop by with any follow-up or further questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 01:45, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Jacqueline St. Joan (03:38, 28 February 2026)
[edit]Hello, I've edited and re-edited my article and just submitted and published it. Can you see it? What do you think? And when and how will I know if it's acceptable?? And thank you for being my mentor. Jackie --Jacqueline St. Joan (talk) 03:38, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, Jacqueline St. Joan, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm User:Perfect4th, another mentor on Wikipedia, and I'm helping out ClaudineChionh with a few questions for today. I'm guessing you're talking about the article on your userpage? Probably you'll want to move that to Draft:Jacqueline St. Joan, which you'll be able to resubmit with any changes you make. Before you do, though, I want to caution you that creating an article, especially about yourself, is super complicated as a newcomer on Wikipedia. I usually recommend that new editors edit existing articles first to learn Wikipedia article policies through normal editing rather than having to grasp them all at once to create an article. We also have special rules around conflicts of interest which you'll need to look through before creating an article about yourself. After that, you'll want to add references to your article, because those are what will demonstrate Wikipedia's form of notability – Wikipedia articles should be based on a significant amount of coverage in multiple reliable sources.
- That's a lot of info all at once, so feel free to ask any further questions you may have, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 01:54, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- How do I move my article from the user page to the Draft:Jacqueline St. Joan page, please? Jacqueline St. Joan (talk) 16:48, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, Claudine--You recommended that I include references in my article. Here they are--where do they go? Inside the article or at the end? Thank you and sleep well. Jackie

- (additional reference question moved here) Hi again, Jacqueline St. Joan! You can simply put the information currently on your userpage into the draft instead. Your reference format is coming along, which is good! You'll want to make sure that your draft content is based on references, though, so you should have references after your sentences that back up what the content of your draft says. As for the references themselves, I can't access the offline ones, but I noticed the online radio reference was directly related to you – can you find significant coverage in any that are secondary/not directly connected to you? It can be harder, but it's important for the notability aspect.
- Drop on by again if you have any further questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 05:13, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
