Hello, I am Acetate K3 (talk · contribs).
I've lurked Wikipedia for years but made an account in January 2026. I'm new to editing Wikipedia but ready to be involved and help out. The two side boxes here concern pages I'm working on, want to get to, or have finished (for my purposes).
Educationally, I have a background in film studies and film preservation, and those are the areas I intend to work. I am especially interested in silent film generally, classical Hollywood cinema, the cinema of Japan, film gauges like 8 mm film and 16 mm film, and other film technologies. I'm currently getting my feet under me, but am finding areas where my particular interests are of use. I've written about my interests in some more detail below, if you'd like some more information.
I hope to see you around.
Film Technology
[edit]The first article I worked on, Krasnogorsk-3, falls into the broad category of film technology, and area I am passionate about. In my private life I like to tinker with old cameras and movie projectors, trying to repair them. I also like to shoot film, both still and motion photography, and in various formats. The Krasnogorsk-3 page is one I'm not sure I will ever be completely satisfied with. It's currently in a good state, which gives a good overview of the camera and its mechanics. I would like to develop it out some more, but am waiting until I get a broader feel for the sort of content other Wikipedia camera articles like to include.
Within this, I want to try cleaning up both the Movie camera and Filmo articles. Both of these need quite a bit of work, generally.
Silent Film
[edit]Broadly speaking, I love silent film, as I noted above. The first article on silent film that I edited was A Film Johnnie, an early film by Charlie Chaplin during his time at Keystone Studios. This is the exact sort of thing I like researching and finding sources for. I was able to find citations for most of the information on the article and expand it with new information, which I feel like is the kind of perfect work scenario for this sort of thing. I feel like I may take a trip through the remainder of Chaplin's Keystone films soon, to see what else can be cleaned up.
Film History
[edit]Expanding from there, I generally love all things having to do with film history. So the general film article is one I would like to help clean up, gather citations for, and possibly expand and reorganize. But I also feel like this is a project to be undertaken once I have a bit more experience, if only because of the article's size and more broad appeal.
