In the news

[edit]

Headline: ACLU sues Utah for not recognizing gay marriages

“There are currently 17 states that allow gay marriage with Utah and Oklahoma in limbo pending decisions by appeals courts.” FYI, Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 13:01, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Who ever thought to call homosexual cohabitation, "GAY"? Who ever thought to call it 'marriage'? If you read The Proclamation on the Family, you will understand why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will never apply 'marriage' to homosexual cohabitation. Just a thought, Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 13:04, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Title capitalization

[edit]

The title of this article, along with a provision at MOS:LDS, violates MOS:THEINST, a site-wide guideline which trumps WP:LOCALCONSENSUS. Please participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Latter Day Saints § Capitalization issue. Thanks. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:59, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to move and expand article

[edit]

I propose that per:

1.WP:NCLDS ("Articles should not be limited to a single Latter Day Saint denomination, unless including the entire Latter Day Saint movement is impractical or awkward."), and

2. WP:CANYOUREADTHIS being far below the upper 10,000 article body words for readability, and

3. To match existing Wikipedia articles like Baptism in Mormonism, Revelation in Mormonism, Marriage in Islam, Marriage in Hinduism, etc.

that this article's scope be expanded and moved to "Marriage in Mormonism" (currently 1,600 words). Additionally, I propose that the following two articles articles: A. Celestial marriage (1,300 words) and B. Sealing (Mormonism) (1,600) words; then be merged into subsections of Marriage in Mormonism. Those all combined have lots of WP:REDUNDANT text and could collectively be trimmed in summary style to about 4,000 words of prose probably. Wayyy below the 15,000 word upper limit for recommended article length before splitting into separate articles. Wikipedia is not a dictionary and does not need to have separate entries to define 'celestial marriage' and 'sealings'. Thoughts anyone? Pastelitodepapa (talk) 07:44, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
