Adora Dearheart
[edit]I was just wondering about this line in that section "and by the end of the novel Making Money they were engaged". Dearheart and Moist were engaged before Making Money, it was mentioned when Moist was thinking back to his proposal, where she informed him that she wasn't going to be his wife, but he would be her husband. So it shouldn't really be "by the end", since it occurred before the book. I wasn't sure how to word it, so I just stuck it here to see what you thought. Signed in, that was me BlooLagoo (talk)
Moist von Lipwig entry
[edit]The quote "That idiot at the Post Office" can very well refer to Stanley (who, indeed, does not seem to be very bright - or simply lives in his own world) and his passion for stamps (having given up pins), e.g. when he talks to Moist about making a whole set of stamps for the big guilds. Furthermore, on several occasions, it is clear Stanley is willing to (as a result of a sort of printing error on some stamps - possibly induced by magic) have special and rare stamps made for collectors. What do you think about that?
---
You do have a point. However, printing two sets of stamps to deliberately capitalize on the brewing animosity between Dwarfs and Trolls (along with throwing something new out there for the stamp collectors to grab up) seems like just the kind of stunt that Moist would pull. Grabbing space in the paper about it would just be icing on the cake. I don't know if Stanley would register on Vimes' radar, but it bears considering?
Reacher Gilt
[edit]Have modified the entry for Reacher Gilt.
Unless satisfactory evidence is offered demonstrating that he is a "rather obvious parody" of Ayn Rand's John Galt, this comparison should not appear in an encyclopaedic entry.
Dios
[edit]Added that "Dios" means "God" in Spanish.

See also
[edit]OK, I'm a huge Robert Asprin fan, but this "see also" list has quite a few entries that do not logically follow for see also
Someone Who Writes in the genere?
[edit]These three are are noted authors in the fantasy parody area, but unless I'm mistaken none of them are listed as collaborators on any of the characters
Heck Neil Gaiman would be a better fit here merely because he actually did work with Pratchett on Good Omens (but that has really nothing to do with the Characters of Discworld etc.. so no not suggesting that at all
Turtles and conventions, oh my
[edit]Turtles all the way down
I don't know - I get the connection Discworld_(world)#Great_A'Tuin and the phrase does kind of come back to Pratchett but it seems like that would be better placed in the Discworld article in general or in Pratchett's.
Similarly
I suppose relevant that folks would be interested but again this feels like a better see also for Terry Pratchett or Discworld than this page
Seems Legit
[edit]100% related - this was about characters, that link is about sentient species
well, except that the proper link is
Discworld (world)#Sapient species
cuz sapient is the proper term.
One could split hairs over the Luggage being a total character.. and Au'Turin also could be listed here etc.. but linking to sentient species seems relevant
Not directly "Discworld Novels" but the Wee Free Men and Maurice and the Tiffany Arching books still do take place in the universe
I feel like those might be better see alsos
Suggested Se Alsos
[edit]here then are my suggested replacements
The species linked properly, adding A'Tuin and Luggage as they're not highlighted either as characters here OR in sapient species section, so some might come here looking for them as characters and since Nac Mac Feegle are listed a few times here, that works too

- Sure, I agree with those See Alsos. Do you have suggestions for characters to be added to the main list? Halbared (talk) 19:27, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'll have a look through. Came here for inspiration for naming a new computer (my system names are all Discworld related) and got nerd-rabbit-hole'd in a bit. In theory, The Luggage and Great A'Tuin are arguably characters though A'Tuin is Sentient, not necissarily sapient.. Luggage - hmm that's tricky but Luggage is absolutely "A character" - whether those two should be listed direclty in teh article as characters or not... I would say Yes the luggage totally is as it's present in multiple books and shows clear motivation and personality. A'Tuin is on such another level.. I mean technically A'Tuin has motivations but is far less directly so
- As for others I might suggest that Greebo is also a character in his own right. He has motivations and an active role as his cat self, but then also when he's turned human for a bit - so I'd say he qualifies as a character for sure.
- I guess I'd also say that if The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents is considered part of the Discworld, then Maurice and the named rats and the Rat King - - hoo boy that opens a bit of a Pandora's box doesn't it?
