I shall review this entry. My first comments should be up within a few days. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 20:38, 3 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Without further ado, let's begin with the infobox and lead section:

Infobox

[edit]
  • The file source for File:Gaga-FiveFootTwo.jpg no longer seems to be working, so it will need to be either archived or replaced  Done
  • Linking Chris Moukarbel twice within the infobox is needlessly redundant; you should just pick one field or the other to link him  Done
  • I don't see any support for producer credits within the prose  Done

Lead

[edit]
  • If producer credits can be verified, then it's worth adding how Gaga and Moukarbel were also producers for this film (along with Bobby Campbell and Heather Perry)  Done

More to come later. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 12:29, 6 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Synopsis

[edit]
  • The use of "tragic" from "tragic fates" is a subjective description that violates WP:POV; we shouldn't treat our opinions on what happened to people as facts.  Done rephrased
  • Could you please elaborate on what the "treatment of women in the music industry" bit entails? I admittedly don't remember all the specifics of this movie from when I watched it in full.
Comment. ET online : this source mentions that part in the documentary. I can remove that sentence if you find it unnecessary. --Sricsi (talk) 20:05, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You can modify it to being frustrated with male producers holding power over women in music. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:14, 11 May 2026 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • The footnote about Ms. Germanotta's friendship with Tony Bennett seems minor compared to him appearing in the documentary and her performing at a birthday celebration for him.  Done removed
  • Let's specify how it was the 2016 Democratic Nomination Convention that got featured here.
Question: Do you mean changing Democratic National Convention to Democratic Nomination Convention? I used the former because that is how it appears in the film's subtitles and in the online sources I found for the event. --Sricsi (talk) 20:29, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, I misread the text, so stick with National and just add a year. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:14, 11 May 2026 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Not sure the tidbit on being hurt by Madonna's criticism is worth adding here; you can instead just focus on discussing an admiration for her.
Not done I see the point, but I'd keep that detail. Gaga's comments about Madonna were among the documentary's most widely discussed moments in reviews and media coverage, and the scene is not only about admiration; it also reflects the film's broader focus on vulnerability and public scrutiny. It was also part of the teasers for the film. --Sricsi (talk) 20:29, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • What is "subvert" from "subvert public expectations" supposed to mean?
Comment. That Gaga wanted to go against what people assumed she would do at the Super Bowl, especially the expectation that she would be overtly political or controversial. --Sricsi (talk) 20:29, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, it might be clearer to go with "defy public expectations" instead when "defy" appears to be a more commonly known term. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:18, 11 May 2026 (UTC)  Done[reply]

Cast Appearances

[edit]
  • I'm not sure this section is warranted when documentaries aren't casting people in the way a conventional film would for movie roles, and it might be redundant in some capacity when you already discuss real people instead of fictional characters within the previous section anyway. If you believe otherwise, then we should add citations, especially for anyone listed here who wasn't already discussed.
Semi-done I see the concern, and Cast is probably not the best heading for a documentary. I have renamed it to Appearances, which better reflects that these are real people featured in the film rather than actors in scripted roles. Contributors could also work, though I think Appearances is clearer for people shown onscreen.
Question: Would the documentary itself not be sufficient as a source for this? For the basic fact that these people appear in the film, the film is the primary source. A citation to the Netflix page is already present in the article, though I can add it here as well if needed. Looking at comparable film articles, though, cast sections are generally not cited unless a specific entry is disputed or requires secondary-source support. --Sricsi (talk) 20:39, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, you could probably use a film citation (I can aid with formatting refs to movies) for anybody listed there who isn't already named within "Synopsis", and it does seem more appropriate to use "Appearances" than "Cast" now that I think about this some more. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:16, 11 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The Netflix page is already cited under ref 13 (in the Music section). Not sure if the formatting is correct. Sricsi (talk) 17:58, 12 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Mostly yes; I would just add the director's name to it and a note of Gaga serving as an autobiographer for it. You can replicate the ref here. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:45, 12 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the director to the ref.[1] I'm not sure about naming Gaga in there, though. She is obviously the film's subject, but listing her as an "autobiographer" in the citation feels a bit off for an AV media source, unless there is a specific parameter or source wording supporting that role. Sricsi (talk) 22:31, 12 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
In case it wasn't clear before, I was basing that description on how she's telling her own story throughout the film, which isn't presented as fictional. Nevertheless, not having director there made the citation look incomplete. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 00:47, 13 May 2026 (UTC)  Done[reply]

Up next will be the "Production" section, with both halves of it likely being assessed in one go. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 23:33, 10 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SNUGGUMS:,
I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to follow up on the GA review and ask if you've had a chance to continue with it, or if there's anything further needed from my side regarding the points mentioned so far. I'm happy to make any additional changes if required.
Thanks again for your time and work on this! Sricsi (talk) 08:26, 3 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, I got sidetracked with a family loss and other Wikipedia activities, but will continue the review within the next 48 hours. In the meantime, another minor change I recommend is to specify how her goddaughter discussed within the plot section is Sistilia Newman. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 12:12, 3 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi SNUGGUMS,
I’m sorry for your loss, and no worries at all. Thank you for letting me know, and please take the time you need.
I have added Sistilia's name in the plot section as suggested. I'll keep an eye on the review and will be happy to address any further comments once you continue.
Thanks again, Sricsi (talk) 16:34, 3 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
