  • I will review this nomination. – Editør (talk) 18:25, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article is new enough (expanded 5x on 25 May 2025), is long enough (4972 characters of prose), has no apparent copyright issues (no copyright violations detected in source #1, #5, #6, #7) and is presentable (per readthrough). The first hook seems too random. I prefer ALT1, but I think the somewhat vague part about going "viral" could be left out. Maybe simplify it to ALT2? Or could you come up with another alternative? The image is not used in the article and seems to divert readers from the bolded article into a side article (WP:DYKDIVERT). QPQ is done (2 reviews during unreviewed backlog mode).
Some comments outside the review: the article uses different date formats, source #5 doesn't cover all the main information in the sentence, and archived source #7 automatically redirects away from its page. – Editør (talk) 18:56, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Editør: Fine by me! Source 5 just supports the swimming coach part while source 4 supports the chef de mission part. Fixed the archive link.Arconning (talk) 00:59, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Approve ALT2. Success with the GA review! – Editør (talk) 01:04, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I will be reviewing this :) Expect comments by Tuesday! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 13:15, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Review:

Hey, this article was so so interesting, thank you! It is a well-written and well-sourced article and I cannot see any major issues. Earwig shows no copyright issues and the comments I have are mainly to do with clarifying things for WP:READERSFIRST:

Lead - could you please clarify if Crumpton went viral for being shirtless or for his attractiveness (or both)?

Background:

1.) "This edition marked American Samoa's second appearance" - Is it possible to explain that whilst it was their second appearance at the Winter Olympics, they participated at Summer Olympics events too? I found it a bit confusing

    • I've included some info.

2.) Can you please link "bobsledders"?

    • Sure can do!

3.) "at the territory's debut" - Could you please reword this?

  • Removed as readers could probably determine what Games they've placed 39th.

Delegation and ceremonies:

1.) Could you please link "skeleton" for readers unfamiliar with the term (like I was initially)?

    • Yup!

2.) "Crumpton previously represented the United States in international competition" - I think "competition" should be plural but let me know if you disagree

    • "International competition" is used in quite a lot of news articles, a generally accepted term... I do disagree that it should be competitions.

3.) "He ultimately left the national team in 2019 after an arbitration case was filed against the United States Bobsled and Skeleton Federation" - Could you please explain why this led to Crumpton leaving the team? I did not see the link

    • Done. :)

4.) Could you add a free image or two of the clothes/garments that he wore at the ceremony in this section? It does not necessarily need to be of Crumpton wearing them, just to give readers an aid in identifying the items and to fulfil the GA criteria of using free pictures where appropriate

    • Let me know if they're alright.

5.) Can you please link baby oil?

    • Yup!

6.) Could you please link "Tonga"?

    • Done.

7.) Could you please clarify when Taufatofua said that the territory was "holding the fort"?

    • Yes.

Skeleton - Is there any info about how Crumpton found the event or any info after he participated the event (e.g. if he was disappointed with his time there) or any reception?

    • After, yes. I don't believe Crumpton's journey way back would be relevant so I haven't added it.

When these have been addressed I will do a spotcheck and hopefully pass the article :) Please let me know if you have any questions at all or need any assistance! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 02:58, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DaniloDaysOfOurLives Done and addressed points! Arconning (talk) 10:41, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thank you for these changes! I have spotchecked Sources #4, #5, #9 and #13 and will pass the article - well done :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 13:47, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
