Overview

Kvik A/S is a Danish manufacturer and retailer specialising in kitchens, bathrooms, and wardrobes, headquartered in Vildbjerg, Central Jutland, Denmark. The company operates on a franchise model and, as of 2025, has over 180 stores in 13 countries. Since 2005, Kvik has been owned by the Swedish group Ballingslöv International AB, part of Stena Adactum, which also owns brands such as JKE Design and Multiform.

History

Kvik was founded in 1983 in Kibæk, Denmark, by Knud B. Troelsen. In 2004, the company moved to a newly built headquarters in Vildbjerg, near Herning, where it houses production, warehousing, and administrative operations. In February 2025, Claus Flyger Pejstrup became CEO.

International Expansion

Kvik has expanded internationally through a franchise model. Key milestones include:

  • 1983 – First store opened in Denmark
  • 1999 – Expansion to Sweden
  • 2002 – Expansion to Norway and Finland
  • 2005 – Expansion to the Netherlands and Belgium
  • 2007 – Expansion to France and Spain
  • 2011 – Expansion to the Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Thailand
  • 2021 – First store opened in Germany
  • 2025 – Opening of first store in Berlin

Products and Design

Kvik’s product range includes kitchens, bathrooms, and wardrobes. Notable kitchen series include:

  • MANO, launched in 2004, one of the company’s most recognized kitchen lines.
  • OMBRA, an award-winning design and the first Kvik kitchen featuring surfaces made from recycled PET, later applied to all of Kvik’s foil-finished kitchens.
  • OAKWOOD, an award-winning solid oak kitchen inspired by traditional Danish craftsmanship.

Kvik Living

In 2024, Kvik expanded its product range by launching Kvik Living, its first-ever furniture collection. The collection includes dining chairs and a lounge chair, designed by Danish agency Hans Thyge & Co and is made from recyclable materials.

Collaborations

Kvik has collaborated with several Danish designers and studios to develop kitchens, furniture, and interior solutions. Notable collaborations include:

  • Rikke Frost – Designed the “Align” kitchen, presented at 3Days of Design in Copenhagen. The kitchen features warm materials, soft edges, and natural oak for a functional and inviting design. Frost has described the design as a tribute to craftsmanship and sensory experiences, emphasising usability and human interaction. She also discussed the design process and functionality of the kitchen in Kvik’s podcast, The Sociable Kitchen®, highlighting her approach to combining aesthetics with practical considerations.
  • Hans Thyge & Co – Designed furniture and for Kvik Living, including dining tables, dining chairs and a lounge chair.
  • Says Who – Worked on kitchen designs such as OMBRA and CORISA, as well as bar stools, lamps, and furniture under Kvik Living, focusing on Danish minimalism and durable materials.
  • Bly Studio – Collaborated on furniture and interior solutions combining functionality with modern design for homes and workplaces.

ESG efforts

Kvik integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its operations. The company uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in its offerings, employs flat-pack logistics to reduce transport emissions, and incorporates recycled materials in its products. Kvik is FSC® certified (license code FSC® C104647).
