The 2026 Illinois State Treasurer election will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect the Illinois Treasurer, concurrently with elections to the United States Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, governor, and other state and local elections.
Incumbent Democratic treasurer Mike Frerichs originally considered running for Senate, but instead decided to run for re-election to a fourth term in office.[1][2] Frerichs is running unopposed, as no Republican candidates have filed nor declared their intention to run for treasurer, making this race the first time in over 90 years that a major party did not have any candidates file for a statewide office in Illinois.[3]
