Since we are coming around to the Kentucky Derby 2006, I decided that we needed some Julep recipes. Enjoy. Dlc3007 13:09, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quantity/type of mint

[edit source]

The directions call for "5-6 sprigs of mint" for every 3oz of bourbon. I have been making mint juleps frequently for a few years, and I would say that this recipe calls for a lot of mint. I have an English mint plant (a variety of spearmint), and 5-6 _leaves_ for every two or three shots of bourbon is enough to make a very minty julep. Can anyone else comment on mint quantities? I have used peppermint, as well as some wild mint (unsure of the variety) in the past, and the results were the same.
