Balancing service fees starting from 01.01.2026

The structure of the balance service fees has been approved by the Competition Authority decision of 30.10.2025 No. 7-10/2025-015 in accordance with the methodology “Uniform Methodology for Calculating the Price of Electricity Balancing Service.”

Pursuant to § 53 (7) of the Electricity Market Act, the system operator must ensure that an energy storage unit within a balance area is not subject to double costs related to balance service surcharges. To this end, the system operator applies an external settlement mechanism, which enables it to verify the compliance of balance service surcharges applied to an energy storage unit with the legislation.
The balance service tariffs do not include the imbalance price during the balance period. The imbalance price is based on the cost of activated balancing energy during the respective period and is published at: Imbalance prices - BTD

Balancing service fees until 31.12.2025

The system operator keeps records of the administrative costs of the balancing service in accordance with the principles set out in the legislation and the Competition Authority's Methodology. With the price component of the administrative costs of the balancing service, the system operator covers the administrative costs related to the provision of the balancing service, as forecasted by financial year.

Balancing service tariffs do not include the imbalance price during the balancing period. The imbalance price is based on the cost of the balancing energy activated in a specific period and is published here: Balancing energy prices.
