Make sure you don't plug the phone in until it has dried out, and it will either work or not depending on how much damage has been done. AppleCare+ does provide accidental coverage, but the free 1 year limited warranty does not.

I used to manufacture Lithium Ion batteries and will advise the following:

1. Power it off and never use it again.
2. If the internal cells are exposed to water, there will be an explosion. 💥
3. Take it to a nearby local Apple Retail Store and explain the situation and allow them the opportunity to offer a reasonable outcome for you.

If you were the 999 out of 1000 where the water resistance still held good, then letting the charge port dry is all you need to do.

If you are the unlucky one, then the phone is kaput.
