Adam Scott On Going Dramatic In Emmy Frontrunner ‘Severance’ But Still All In For A ‘Parks & Rec’ Reunion If It Happens – The Actor’s Side

Adam Scott

Adam Scott doesn’t deny he might have been best known for his comedy background thanks to significant roles in shows like Parks and Recreation and movies like Stepbrothers, the latter in which he starred with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly and learned a lot about getting laughs from both.

But Scott started off in more dramatic kinds of roles, and now is a leading Emmy contender for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Severance. It’s his second nom for the series, which has a leading 27 Emmy nominations this year including for Outstanding Drama Series and has to be considered a frontrunner to win in for the long-awaited second season of the Apple TV+ series.

Scott joins me for this edition of my Deadline video series The Actor’s Side to talk about the success of the series, the complexity of playing Mark, and just what that complicated finale means going forward. But we also do a fascinating run though his entire career and get his thoughts on the significance of such jobs as 1994’s Hellraiser: Bloodline, doing a Star Trek movie, a favorite early role working for Scorsese in The Aviator, an indie hit in The Overnight which just celebrated an anniversary, and so much more (the more includes an upcoming film in which he stars with Robert De Niro no less). Plus, he gives the scoop on whether he is up for a Parks & Rec reunion and why that series meant so much to him.
