Severance is a workplace thriller creatd by Dan Erickson and directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller. Aoife McArdle, Uta Briesewitz and Samuel Donovan also direct episodes. The Apple TV+ series broke out in 2022 after it debuted on the streamer in February that year.
Among the core cast between both seasons are Adam Scott, who plays main character Mark Scout, Britt Lower, whose Helly R. kicked off the first episode, Zach Cherry who plays the most efficient Lumon Industries employee Dylan George and John Turturro as Irving Bailiff, the most senior refiner. The show follows this quartet, who sort macro data for Lumon Industries, a company founded by the godly Kier Eagan. They have all undergone the “Severance” procedure, which involves the injection of a microchip in one’s brain that somehow separates their work selves from their after-hours selves. The data they sort is a mystery, as is the reason they are sorting it. Mainly it comes down to scary-looking numbers. Other key cast members from the first season are Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick, Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel, Jen Tullock as Mark’s sister Devon, Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman and Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey, aka Mark’s thought-to-be-dead-wife Gemma.
Season 2 of the science-fiction television series premiered on Apple TV+ Friday, Jan. 17. Season 2 will welcome new cast members Alia Shawkat,Bob Balaban, Stefano Carannante, Merrit Wever, Gwendolyn Christie, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, John Noble, Robby Benson and more.
