Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia 2 has roared past the $1 billion threshold at the global box office, achieving the massive milestone in just 17 days. This phenomenal pace makes it the fastest-ever billion-dollar earner among all animated MPA releases and all PG-rated films. It follows Disney’s Lilo & Stitch as the second film of 2025 to hit the $1 billion mark.
This achievement secures a historic back-to-back billion-dollar success for Walt Disney Animation Studios, following Moana 2 last year. The studio now proudly claims five billion-dollar titles since 2013: Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, Zootopia, and now Zootopia 2.
Inside Out 2 amassed the highest global box office gross of 2024. Joined by Moana 2, it marked that year’s third release to surpass this milestone. Inside Out 2 has ascended to the top of the animated film box office, amassing a staggering $1.69 billion worldwide since its June 14 debut. Both animated films have joined the elite group, surpassing the billion-dollar mark alongside 56 other films.

Movie (2023) is in fourth place with $1.3 billion. With the blockbuster success of “Inside Out 2,” Disney holds 4 of the top 5 and 9 of the top 12 highest-grossing animated films in history.

Rating them via flat gross isn’t an accurate assessment of the the most successful animated movie of all time. These ratings should be based on “inflation-adjusted gross”. A real quick bit of research shows that using this method would put the original “Incredibles” as #5 on this list (if none of the other titles are adjusted for inflation, so still not fair), yet Incredibles isn’t even on the list.
Let’s get a real list that shows the ‘true’ “Highest-Grossing Animated Films Of All Time At The Box Office”!
make another list adjusted for inflation??
Inside out 2 didn’t get too keep the crown too long. That’s a bit disappointing but hey 2nd place isn’t THAT bad right?
WOW inside out 2 wasn’t no 1 for long. That’s surprising!
Probably is a bit tricky to adjust Snow White since it had so many re-releases since 1937
