While Hulu’s television adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale having come to an end earlier this year, the story will continue in sequel series The Testaments.
From executive producers Bruce Miller and Warren Littlefield, the show will take place in the same world as The Handmaid’s Tale with a time jump after the show.
For everything we know about The Testaments, read on below:
When will The Testaments come out?

What is The Testaments about?
The show will take place 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, and it is also based on a book by Margaret Atwood.
The story follows the lives of three women, Aunt Lydia (Dowd), Agnes (Infiniti) and Daisy (Halliday), whose fates become intertwined as they uncover the secrets of Gilead and the resistance against its regime.
Who else is behind The Testaments?
The Handmai’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss will executive produce the series alongside Miller and Littlefield. When Deadline first broke the news of the sequel series, we also reported that the hope is for Moss to reprise her role of June Osbourne.
Mike Barker will direct the first three episodes of the show in addition to executive producing.
I don’t get the point of this series. They gave the original show and end, and this one is like it never ended. Then why?
You should try reading the book. Maybe it will help you understand more. The second or sequel show is based on Margaret Atwood’s second book, called The Testaments. Should be mandatory reading as far as I’m concerned.
Sad if it means Goliad was not wiped off the map.
Why can’t Elisabeth Moss continue in the new series. She’s the star along with Janie and the rest of the main handmaidens. What about Serena will she be in the new series’s as well. And about those that fled to Alaska. Where June’s mom is and her other daughter is she in it? And what about Nick and his wife they had a child together. And Serena’s new husband as well? Come on we need to see more of the handmaiden tale to continue. It’s very addicting to say the least. You can’t just expect to stop and then come in with a new name. That’s not right. I know how acting goes. I used to be an actress a long time ago. And you’d think that these main characters would want to have this show continue for many more seasons. Not just stop and then come up with a new name The Testaments. Especially since Aunt Lydia is still going to be in the new series’s. Have any of you producers even ask the public what they’d like to see happening? When I was watching the season 6 episode 8 that episode kept me on the edge of my seat. You guys need to bring back Oliver’s mother she’s a Dr and she went back to Giland? We need more of the handmaiden to return in the Testament .
Not only have you not been watching the current season of The Handmaid’s Tale, you’ve never read the books either. Nothing you’re saying is set in reality. The Testaments is set 15 years into the future. Baby Nicole and Agnes/Hannah are all teenagers that are almost grown. June and Luke are still supposedly working for Mayday and are fugitives.
This is a book you can’t change the book to fit what you want in it. I understand that we’ll miss the characters that we come to love and know but this is a new story.
Nick, Gabriel (Serena’s new husband) & Joseph are all dead. They blew up in the jet when Joseph detonated the explosives. That’s where their story ends.
Lol, I don’t think you have read either bo I know. Your comments do not make any sense
Have you actually read the books
Have you not seen the new episode? It will answer at least one of your questions, regarding Serena’s husband. I do agree with you about seeing June and some of the other mains. I love this show!
Have you read The Testaments? The “Star” of that show is Aunt Lydia.
Should be made into a regular show wkly..this is what the new government is trying to do right now in 2025..this show is a reminder of what is happening right now in the USA..EVERY CITIZIN SHOULD WATCH HMT
Dear lord… calm down…..
I agree
Have you even watched it? This is just a nutso take.
It’s not that far off.
They must be a maganutszo.
It is happening now if people would open their eyes
Hope its good, cause they basically ruined the handmaid’s tale to set up the spin off…
Ive loved season 6! The best yet!
If you used to be an actress, your prolly not one anymore becuz you didn’t pay attention to your storyline in your script. Everything that you commented about with your input made no sense. Sorry spoiler Nick was on that plane too. Along with Serena’s husband and a lot of the Commanders. So the Testaments is probably going to be something totally different about Gilead not the same thing we just watched for sixth Seasons that’s over. You do the math. And they Oscar goes to..
I mean, all you have to do is read the first book, and then the sequel, which is The Testaments. It is about Aunt Lydia, Agnes who is Hannah, and another character.
