Danielle Deadwyler has found her partner for Hulu’s The X-Files reboot as Himesh Patel is set to join Hulu’s reboot of the classic TV series. The show recently received a pilot greenlight at Hulu. Deadwyler is set as the co-lead in the project, from Onyx Collective and 20th Television. Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner.
Insiders close to the show say Deadwyler and Patel will be playing new original characters in the series.
Sinners filmmaker Coogler is writing and directing the pilot for the new X-Files. In it, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents —played by Deadwyler and Patel — form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

Where can i watch the x files new series of 2026 i just heard the theme on channel 5. From what i’m reading it not being filmed yetit beginning filming in may 2026. When its actually starting?
Excellent casting. I just hope the mythology is independent from the original series.
Why would it when Gillian will be involved?
You want a balance of the familiar and the new, not something independent.
We still don’t know if this series is a direct continuation, a reimagine or something between but I said the mythology as in the alien conspiracy. The new series can still honor the legacy of the original, its spirit and everything and start a new mythology – assuming there will be one.
This sounds fun! I’m really looking forward to it.
Two of the stars of one of the best shows/book adaptations of all time, Station Eleven.Ryan Coogler. X-Files. It’s a winner, folks, all around. Until the review bombers start complaining about nonwhite casting and political correctness, as they did with Starfleet Academy.
I am a guy who thinks the original is one of the great series of all time but also that the alien mythology episodes were by far the weakest of the entire series. I do not object to a new approach in that regard and despite my very real late stage reboot fatigue I am loving this creative team so they got me on board. However as a life long fan of all things Star Trek any sort of remotely positive comment regarding Starfleet Academy is utterly indefensible. It is a profoundly terrible series with an undeniable ambition to be the very worst television series ever produced. And that fact has absolutely nothing to do with cast or talent diversity or political correctness or inclusivity or anything else other than the god-awful amateur hour hacks turning in embarrassingly terrible scripts that read like junior high school level Dawson’s Creek fan fiction. I do however remain hopeful that this fascination with rebooting literally everything passes before we all have to deal with a new Lost.
The casting is great! I can’t believe I say this but I’m excited.
Huge xfiles fan. Im really excited by these announcements. I think having non-white leads is a fantastic idea as it helps to distance the actors from the scully mulder comparisons. wouldve been a huge mistake to try and find duchovny anderson clones (though maybe fitting to the theme of the show).
