Turning Point USA‘s “The All-American Halftime Show,” the event revealed by the right-wing political organization created by the late Charlie Kirk in the wake of Bad Bunny’s being selected to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, revealed its lineup Tuesday.
Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett and Lee Brice have been announced as performers for the event, which is being billed on the TPUSA website as celebrating “faith, family & freedom.”
Watch on Deadline
The musical performances will air or stream live on conservative news platforms including Daily Wire+, Real America’s Voice, Trinity Broadcasting Network, TDN (a sister network to The Epoch Times), and Sinclair Media’s The National News Desk and Charge! digital channels. It is also scheduled to stream on TPUSA’s social media channels.
The show was announced back in October, a week after the NFL announced Bad Bunny as its halftime performer. The pick created backlash in right-wing and MAGA circles as Bad Bunny has been critical of the Donald Trump administration in the past (he refused to perform in mainland U.S. during his just-wrapped tour to protest ICE), and because he sings almost exclusively in Spanish.
One right-wing commentator, Tomi Lahren, said Bad Bunny was “not an American artist,” though he is from Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has called the pick a “terrible decision.”
“In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that, not somebody like this,” he told reporters.
It is unclear what venue will host the event or what it might look like; details overall have been scant since the original October announcement, with the media networks carrying it only appearing on the official site within the past week.
Bad Bunny is a global music star with 16 Grammy nominations and six wins, the latest three coming Sunday when he won Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, the first Spanish-language album to take that trophy. It also won Best Música Urbana Album, while his single “EoO” won for Best Global Music Performance.
The singer received a standing ovation from the Crypto.com Arena crowd during his speech after the Música Urbana Album win, starting, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ‘ICE out!’”
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans,” he said.
He added, ““The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it — with love. Don’t forget that, please.”
The Super Bowl, pitting the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, is Sunday on NBC.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir weren’t even interested in doing the show – wow!
So, checking my notes, a has been, a never been, and some unknowns vs one of the most popular artists in the world. Hmmmmmm.
The puppy dull has more entertainment value than this dribble. Soon to be back under a rock where they all belong, out of the sunlight.
Never heard of any of these people besides Old Man Rock.
Are they J6ers or something?
This is the dumbest news ever. You are literally dividing the country. Why can’t you just embrace a diverse culture and watch the real Super Bowl Half Time show with the rest of us? No one wants to see Kid Rock or any of the other people we never heard of. What is it about Puerto Ricans that you racist gringos don’t like? If you really don’t like us Puerto Ricans then set us free! Puerto Rico doesn’t want to be part of America but you Colonizers want everything for yourselves and that’s why you talk down to us Puerto Ricans and have treated us in the worst of ways. Oh and by the way, Bad Bunny isn’t the first Puerto Rican to perform at the Super Bowl.
