Vin Diesel just announced that the next film in Universal‘s Fast & Furious franchise, which now is titled Fast Forever, will hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
Louis Letterier returns as director. Letterier directed the last pic, Fast X, in 2023 with Diesel back in the Domenic Torreto role. The last film ends with a massive cliffhanger where the fates of several key characters are not disclosed so as of now plot details and returning cast are unknown at this time.
Given the cliffhanger moment at the end of the last film, the hope was to get a sequel up by 2025 but those plans changed and the film will now bow in 2028. Diesel has teased things about the next installment in recent years including a comment at last years Fuel Fest saying that the next film would “return to the car culture, to the street racing.”
The pic, which had been called Fast X: Part 2https://deadline.com/2025/06/vin-diesel-fast-and-furious-release-date-brian-oconner-1236445364/, is the 11th and last movie in the 25-year-old franchise and 12th including the 2019 Dwayne Johnson-Jason Statham spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Since launching with Fast & Furious in 2001, the films have combined to gross more than $7 billion worldwide.
Honestly I’d been thinking they were never going to do it.
How much were they me to cut the budget down by?
a long time. i thought the films were supposed to be 2 year – 3 years a part
