All American has scored an eighth and final season on The CW.
The young-adult series from showrunner Nkecki Okoro Carroll and co-showrunner Jamie Turner was renewed for 13 more episodes Monday. No premiere date has been set, but The CW says the episodes will air in 2026.
The news comes shortly after the Season 7 finale on May 5, which ended on quite a cliffhanger that left the legacy of the Baker family up in the air.

“How do I condense into just a few words what would be the longest love letter to this show, the fans, the cast, crew, staff, and producers?” showrunner and executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carrol said in a statement. “My heart is so filled with love and gratitude for everyone who helped bring All American to life and kept it going for its historic run. It is so hard to say goodbye to the thing that you love, but we are so excited we get to do it in the way we envisioned with this final season. Thank you to Brad Schwartz, Channing Dungey, Brett Paul, and Greg Berlanti for supporting our vision. Thank you to the many executives at Warner Bros Discovery, CW and Berlanti Productions who have been a supportive part of the All American huddle since day one. Thank you to our OG and new generation cast members, our writers, crew and full staff for raising the bar every episode. Thank you to Spencer Paysinger, whose life inspired this epic journey. And thank you to everyone who not only watched the show, but took Spencer James’s mantra of ‘Dream Big. Stay Real’ to heart and were inspired to chase their seemingly impossible dreams. We see you. We salute you. Here’s to leaving it all on the field one last time.”
Per The CW, All American is the top entertainment program in primetime with adults 18-49 and 25-54. It’s also the No. 1 performer on the CW app. With this final season, it’ll accomplish a feat few shows have been able to in the modern television era with eight seasons and 132 episodes.
“All American is one of the greatest CW shows of all time, and we are honored to bring it back for one final season to give fans a chance to say a meaningful goodbye to these inspiring characters and this incredible world,” Brad Schwartz, President of The CW Network, said in a statement of his own. “The series took bold new steps in Season 7, adding exciting new characters to the ones we already love, and viewers truly embraced it all. From the first episode of Season 7 to the last, viewership grew 71% among adults 18-49 and 55% among those age 25-54. We cannot wait to see the emotion, heart, and magic that Nkechi Okoro Carroll and the entire cast and creative team deliver in giving this story the proper ending it deserves.”
Added Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD U.S. Networks: “Since the moment All American kicked off, the audience fell in love with these characters and their heartfelt stories. Season 7 provided a rare opportunity to keep this world for the fans while introducing new characters alongside some beloved favorites. I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this story continue for an eighth and final season. I know Nkechi and our very talented team of writers and executive producers will deliver something unforgettable. Thank you to Greg and Sarah at Berlanti Productions for their leadership, and to our partners at The CW for this opportunity.”
All American underwent a big cast overhaul for its 13-episode seventh season after much of the original cast departed at the end of Season 6, including Daniel Ezra as Spencer James. The departures made way for a new generation, and the series reset to follow a fresh group of Los Angeles teenagers at Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High.
Particularly for Ezra’s Spencer, the story already had been building toward a complete character arc and, in the final episodes of Season 6, he makes it to the NFL, wins the Super Bowl and gets married. However, Deadline also understands that the Season 7 renewal likely was contingent on a budget cut that would have made it unfeasible to retain the entire original cast, whose episodic rates would understandably have been too high to be sustainable.
Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, and Bre-Z returned as series regulars for Season 7, while new cast included Osy Ikhile and Nathaniel McIntyre. Antonio J. Bell and Alexis Chikaeze were also upped to series regulars for Season 7.
Season 7 positioned these new characters to take even more of the center stage in succeeding installments, after revealing that a few of them are related to the Baker family — and their intentions for being in Los Angeles are not entirely altruistic.
The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios, with executive producers Nkechi Okoro Carroll, who serves as showrunner, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jameal Turner, Mike Herro, and David Strauss.
I am in absolute awe of this tv show and all of the characters I wish I could meet all of them this show is one the single most greatest movies/shows EVER LOVE THIS !
One of the best series in recent years. It continues to scream “Dream Big. Stay Real” And makes everyone watching wish that they had a Spencer James in their lives. ENCORE
All american is a hollywood television series about sports and football. The father character in the television series has a disease and cancer that is all.Honestly when I first moved to a new city in hoosier and detroit I told my father and my roommate about all american television series. When first moved to a new city we did not have the roku box so my dad would watch all american if it was on live. however my roommate did not watch all american that often I think I might of watched more television episodes of the all american show. All american is a tv show in recent times but these are times when I used to talk to my family about tv shows. All american is a show that seems like it is meant to be taken seriously. All american another thing I noticed about the show that is essential and vital is the fact that one of characters names in the show is called Slyvia seems like that is familiar name or close to a name of person I used to know from school. The real reason and imperative reason i’m talking about all american because it appears in google search and I think the internet is talking about another season of the all american television series. The other critical and important thing is all american is a cw show just like the arrow show I remember seeing the last season of arrow show. The other thing I want to highlight the other tv show my family and I used to talk about is black lightning the superhero series on cw My mom used to tell when there are new episodes of black lightning. Cw black lightning television series is before we got the roku television boxes and black lightning is the last time I had a family conversation about television series in the past.
I have watched all seasons All American can’t wait for the season 8 to begin on CW and Netflix
The C in CW pretty much stands for Canadian since I think All American is the last original scripted drama filmed stateside, everything else scripted is a Canadian acquisition.
