This year CBS is introducing its first schedule in 16 years without a CSI series as the venerable procedural franchise ended with the cancellation of the latest offshoot CSI: Cyber. But that may change. “We are incredibly proud of all CSI shows, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said during CBS’ upfront press breakfast. “It may come back in another incarnation.”
I hear the producers of the billion-dollar drama franchise also have been open to revisiting it and, after a break, that may happen.
After an inauspicious start on Friday in fall 2000, the mothership series went on to become TV’s biggest drama series and helped CBS establish a foothold on Thursday. The original, which ended its 15-year run with a two-hour finale last fall, spawned three spinoffs: CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and CSI: Cyber.
Oh, no! Not Chicago! Enough of Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. I’d rather see CSI: L.A. or CSI: Dallas!
And, please, don’t trot that old gal, Marg, out if it comes to it.
I’m thinking they should revive it as a series of sporadic TV movies. Like once every two years or something. It could use characters from all the CSI shows that have aired up until now.
I would LOVE to see CSI Las Vegas and CSI New York come back – with the original cast – but with my luck they will do CSI Cyber – with THAT original cast – worst of the bunch even Ted Danson could not save that mess –
There is no better series that combines entertainment and educational storytelling. Forget Cyber, that was dull. But CSI should be on the air. New cast, new city, new producers. But keep it going.
NCIS: CSI, Since it’s on CBS and all, why not merge them with their own shows. CSI: Hawaii 5O, CSI: Beyond Borders… this list could go on and on.
