
DATA GOVERNANCE
The Data Governance Program is a business unit in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and is part of a system-wide initiative to implement the USG Business Procedures Manual section 12.0.
Georgia State is one of 26 colleges and universities that compose the University System of Georgia (USG) and one of the four R1 institutions in the USG.

Georgia State University’s Data Governance Program ensures that the university’s data assets are effectively managed and aligned with its strategic goals. The program is built on a foundation of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines that provide clear direction on how university affiliates classify, access, use, and retain data. These efforts are essential for maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
