Head's up

Hey EF5. I really plan to cut back on contributions at all on Wikipedia. However, I will still be active on here, probably creating details maps and such. Feel free to check my contributions from time to time for maps that might (probably will) be useful for articles. WeatherWriter (talk) 18:43, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

@WeatherWriter: thanks. I don’t spend much time at Commons anyways as it’s a place where consensus can be completely overruled by administrators. I highly disagree with everything Sanger says about Wikipedia, but that’s the one thing I’ll quote him on. Looking forward to those maps, maybe one of the Cullman EF4 someday? EF5 ._. My cutting back isn't from Sanger fyi. It is the TBan/ANI + limited time with my IRL life + actively doing research for AMS publication (ironic since someone proposed to TBan me from weather-topics and I'm about to publish a paper). In essence, the simplest answer to why I will nearly cease edits, even during a semi-retirement is truly: "This is a waste of my time", and the AFDs, TBan, and ANI discussions (along with yet another of my articles currently being up at AFD) pretty much just proved that. Rather than volunteer for things on Wikipedia, I will much rather be doing things for science, rather than try to satisfy Wikipedia's policies, which have hurt science info throughout the last several years (w:WP:VNTIA is a perfect example). Maps are ones I can (and almost certainly will) use off-Wikipedia, so they are the easiest for me to randomly upload from time-to-time. P.S. Maybe Cullman sometime in the future. I got a few others on my list of maps to create first. WeatherWriter (talk) 18:59, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yea, I get that, Wikipedia can be beyond frustrating sometimes and the blocking policy is absolutely abhorrent. Hell, I’ve added a retirement template to my userpage at least three times. But I’ve seen Commons and know it’s just as bad, so I don’t contribute here often. EF5 ._. (talk - contribs) 19:28, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
