IBAN

[edit]

Hello, I would like to request the end of my interaction ban with Dronebogus. During these past more than six months, I have not violated it at any point. Still I commit not to nominate his images for deletion or provoke him, and I apologize for having done so previously, unnecessarily taking up the community's time. I have recently started medication and am much calmer now. I would not mind if he nominated my uploads for deletion, including those by Panteleev; I no longer care about that anymore. Thank you. Yacàwotçã (talk) 22:57, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I’m not sure if commenting violates my end but I would like to appeal to have the Iban removed completely. Besides a few incidents at the beginning of the ban I have only violated it accidentally and tried to remove or apologize for these violations. Dronebogus (talk) 23:25, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agree if both parties think it's a good idea, then I'm in favor of removing it, the less IBANs on Commons, the better. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 01:27, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agree, similarly, but please Dronebogus, don't nominate the Panteleev files for deletion. I think we've reached a reasonable state of things there, and it has eaten way too much time and effort already. - Jmabel ! talk 03:59, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
 Agree, please note Jmabel's suggestion. Shaan SenguptaTalk 11:52, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Could we just formalize this decision? I accidentally broke the IBAN again when I nominated a file Yacàwotçã uploaded for deletion without bothering to check who the uploader was. I don’t think the nomination was problematic (it was just a random unused AI video) and I doubt Yacàwotçã feels offended or harassed by it; if they do I’m sorry and can withdraw it. Dronebogus (talk) 07:30, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
✓ Done @Dronebogus and Yacàwotçã: I'll go out on a limb and formalize the lifting of the IBAN. I see no active objection (User:999real's remarks below do not seem to relate to this IBAN), and several supports. My one aside to Dronebogus does stand, though: please, don't start any new DRs for the Panteleev files. Your opinion is well known, and while (of course) you are allowed to comment or !vote on any related DRs, you really are not an appropriate person to start one. - Jmabel ! talk 18:01, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Separate conduct dispute

[edit]
Extended content
I would like an explanation from @Dronebogus and @Andy Dingley why they totally failed to assume any good faith in Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Edward Myer and made baseless nonsense statements in Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems/Archive 122#User:Edward Myer and never explained them at the time or last week and the latter user wanted to AGF for something with 0 evidence from 10 years ago and didn't want to believe something with clear and current verifiable license at the time!! Look at these statements "Wherever these images came from it’s certainly not the copyright holder" -@Dronebogus " Delete as nomination. I would agree, there is no credible situation where these are freely licensed by being the work of the uploader." -@Andy Dingley They gave 0 reasons to believe files like File:Big U During 2020 Interview.jpg are not recorded or licensed by the copyright holder and just kept insisting it with no explanation REAL 💬 14:33, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
And what relevance does that have to Yacàwotçã or the matter at hand here? Andy Dingley (talk) 15:08, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You 2 should be blocked if you don't produce a reasonable explanation no need to discuss IBAN if you can't edit REAL 💬 15:15, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't think that'll be enough for a block. There are far worse deletion nomination rationales and arguments out there, and even those don't lead to blocks. Nakonana (talk) 15:45, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@999real, if you have an issue with the conduct of Dronebogus and Andy Dingly, file a new thread. there is no need to drag Andy into a dicussin about dronebogus's IBAN. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 15:59, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
1st look at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems/Archive 122#User:Edward Myer and Commons:NPA "Accusations about personal behaviour that lack evidence"
Next see the extreme difference between where Andy Dingley wants to assume good faith to keep files from 10 years ago that can no longer be verified in any way rather than trust the uploader statement now that they do not remember even who took the photos and Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Edward Myer where they repeatedly falsely insist that all images are not licensed by the copyright owner even though it is clearly and fully accessible to see which ones are. Now what's the difference between these 2 cases it's that the 2nd one is about Black People!!
Now I aint making no accusations I am asking them to explain their behavior REAL 💬 16:15, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are derailing a completely unrelated report (and are making implicit yet very clear and serious accusations yourself). Nakonana (talk) 17:09, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
(this is going sound like a broken record) @999real, if you want to raise these issues about Andy and Dronebogus, then make a new ANU thread. A wp:BOOMERANG is very much a possibility at this point. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 19:03, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
For what exactly? Right at the top of ANU is "Before reporting one or more users here, try to resolve the dispute by discussing with them first." That is exactly what I am doing asking them to explain their reasoning 999REAL 💬 19:19, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@999real: if (as it appears) you have an issue with the conduct of Dronebogus and/or Andy Dingley, please start a separate discussion in the appropriate place (COM:ANU) rather than derailing the current discussion, which is about something else entirely. And, no, "try to resolve the dispute by discussing with them first" does not mean "jump into an unrelated discussion on an arbitrary noticeboard and launch a full-scale attack." Surely you have been active on Commons long enough to know that. - Jmabel ! talk 21:44, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

rev-deletion

[edit]

Could an administrator please revision-delete / hide the previous file version of File:Violet Zoie Gardner, June 18 1998.jpg?

I accidentally uploaded an earlier version that contained embedded metadata. I have already uploaded a cleaned replacement with the same image content and the metadata removed.

Only the previous file revision needs to be hidden; the current version should remain.

Thank you. ~2026-28336-04 (talk) 19:00, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

✓ Done. --Túrelio (talk) 19:08, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I was working on this, but Túrelio beat me to the punch.
I'm guessing that the above request came from Jasonhargrove, but not logged in. And it was not really a revdel: the re-upload was under a different name, File:Violet Zoie Gardner, June 18 1998, Funeral Photo.jpg.
This is obviously a photo of a photo: the metadata in the deleted file describes it has having been taken that same day with a camera phone, and for what it's worth I saw nothing we would normally keep confidential in the metadata.
I would not normally have bothered saying any of this once Túrelio deleted it but: assuming this is correctly attributed to Lisa Hargrove, where is the statement that she made granting a CC-0 license? The stated source is just "Provided by the photographer", so we have no public way to verify the grant of permission, and there is no indication of this going through the COM:VRT process. @Jasonhargrove: if what I just wrote there doesn't make sense to you, please read COM:THIRD: if File:Violet Zoie Gardner, June 18 1998, Funeral Photo.jpg is to be kept on Commons, we will need better evidence of the CC-0 license having been granted. - Jmabel ! talk 19:30, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Pinging @Jasonhargrove, my question in the previous paragraph requires a response if the current version of the photo is to be kept. I notice now that the last name is the same as yours, so I am guessing that this is a relative you can easily get hold of to do this correctly. - Jmabel ! talk 18:06, 11 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spamming request

[edit]

Is this even allowed or no? A user had recently spamming requests to a user over German coat of arms instead of sending one single message that contains all requests. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 14:00, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

It's allowed, but the person on the receiving end is also allowed to ignore it, or say, "Why don't you do this yourself?" - Jmabel ! talk 18:09, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
If possible, I think he should had used the graphics workshop instead. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 15:17, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Apparent bot account?

[edit]

I'm a bit leery about bot accounts that have no apparent "owner" such as this one. My inclination would be to block it and ask what is going on but my inclinations are not always right . Other views welcome? Herby talk thyme 12:36, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Herbythyme: A link to a bot approval would help.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:17, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Single edit only, no bot approval and possibly "none of our business" but again views may vary. Herby talk thyme 13:43, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It appears to be a readonly account without bot flags. Could also be done without any declaration. None of our business. Krd 13:21, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
