Voices only: ‘Gratitude’

'And I know it's not much, but I've nothing else fit for a King except for a heart singing hallelujah.'

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Welcome to Voices only. This week we feature Brandon Lake’s  “Gratitude,” a song written from the perspective of a worshiper who, despite singing multiple hymns of praise to the Father, finds them all falling short of God’s greatness.

Here’s a BYU Vocal Point of Brigham Young University making use of Utah’s beautiful scenery for their a cappella rendition of the song

All my words fall short
I got nothing new
How could I express
All my gratitude?

I could sing these songs
As I often do
But every song must end
And You never do

Next up, here’s SaltLight Voices of Heritage Bible College in the Philippines, a school associated with Churches of Christ, showing their “Gratitude.”

So I throw up my hands
And praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah
Hallelujah

And I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah
Hallelujah

Finally, here are our friends from United Voice Worship, another ministry associated with Churches of Christ, with a stairwell rendition of the song.

What’s your favorite a cappella song? Send us a video link and a short description of what the song means to you. We might use your selection in a future Voices only.
