A former religion editor for The Oklahoman and religion writer for The Associated Press, Ross is a 1990 journalism graduate of Oklahoma Christian University. He has covered religion news since 1999.

Each Friday, his “Weekend Plug-in” column for Religion Unplugged meets readers around the world at the intersection of faith and news.

His stories have earned numerous awards from secular and religious press associations, including the Religion News Association’s 2024 Supple Award for Feature Writing and the Society of Professional Journalists’ 2025 Diamond Journalist of the Year honor.

He and his wife, Tamie, are longtime members of the Edmond Church of Christ in Oklahoma, where Bobby serves as a deacon for communications and helps teach the kindergarten class. The Rosses thank God for two sons and daughters-in-law, a daughter and two absolutely perfect grandchildren. Oh, and Frannie, the sweetest basset hound in the world.
