Rates
The rates below are for fiscal year 2026 (FY26), effective July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026
The instruments housed at CEMAS represent a substantial investment and resource for the Ohio State academic and research community. Our highly trained research staff strive to ensure that these resources are available at the optimum performance level and a minimum of downtime. CEMAS recovers some of its direct operating costs through user fees.
Rates and fees for routine services are listed below. For complex projects that require extensive labor, please consider including core staff as key personnel on grant submissions. Contact us with any questions you may have.
There is an hourly charge for each microscope. Users must supply all disposable materials needed for their microscopy work; we endeavor to keep common supplies at-hand for use. Other, less-common sample preparation consumables are available from CEMAS at cost. Consult with CEMAS personnel for more information.
There is an hourly charge for staff time. This fee is charged in addition to the equipment use rate when staff labor is required or desired. This time may be used for training, testing services, and/or consultation. Most short troubleshooting time is not billed to the user.

*After hours rate is applied to usage between 5:00pm-8:00am Monday-Friday and all day Saturday-Sunday. Rate is only applicable to users with anytime access, in which no staff assistance will be available. If staff assistance is required, then this rate does not apply. Please contact the instrument manager if you are interested in pursuing the requirements for anytime access.

The following fees are charged to all users (internal and external):
